The following morning, Laura woke up abruptly as if something startled her awake. She stayed still in her bed and listened for a while but the entire place was completely silent. There weren’t any movements even outside her room.

She rolled over in her bed and checked under her sheets before groaning and burying her face in her pillow. She had a slight headache and was feeling lethargic too. After rolling around in bed for almost an hour, she finally got off and went to take a shower.

She put on a pair of shorts and an oversized t-shirt before finally leaving her room. She thought Rachel would have already returned but that didn’t seem to be the case as the house was completely quiet and the lights she had turned on the previous night were still on.
