"I'm really sorry to bother you. I had no idea the kitchen would be occupied at this time of night," Jack whispered, sounding almost like he wanted to convey something else but the words came out differently.

"No problem. My mate and I are finished here anyway," Sawyer said, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me closer to his chest, taking the plate and walking past Jack.

"You should have brought your mate to accompany you," Sawyer uttered to Jack.

"She doesn't really like the idea of midnight snacking," the tone Jack used was odd. It sounded like he was unhappy about Tabitha's lack of interest in certain things.

"Sad!" Sawyer shrugged.

As we crossed paths, I noticed the anger in Jack's eyes. He could hide it from others, but not from me since I've lived with him and was very familiar with his actions and moods.
