Chapter 16

Amelia had left in the morning when an old and rusted red pick-up truck stopped outside the yard. She gave her goodbyes and left, leaving Lexy and I alone. Lexy went on to get ready for work and I fetched my guitar case and Romeo. I dropped Lexy off at the gas station and promised to pick her up after I was done performing.


My day was finally over and the few hours I spent at street corners really distracted me from my issues.


"Would you like some biltong (A/N: I believe Americans call it beef jerky or jerky), Romeo?" I asked my companion as he jumped out of the car and my car let out a screech of relief. I almost laughed but I was used to it now, "speaking of biltong (A/N: I'm just going to keep using my own terminology because it's easier for me, I'm sorry), I'm low on meat.
