Miller’s POV

I watched Isla leave the room and wished so badly that she was mine.

I could not get her out of my head and wished that things were different, but they were not different at all, and I knew I had to live with it now.

She belonged to Max now, and I needed them both on board if I wanted my pack to be saved. I wasn't the best alpha, but that was going to change.

Mora had broken me by taking away my firstborn and running off with that so-called mate of hers.

Cora held my hand and squeezed it firmly as if reading my mind and reassuring me.

My beta returned to the room and looked slightly relieved to see me with Cora.

She smiled at me as I stood up to talk to my beta.

“He's still out for the count,” he said with a nod, and I noticed the smile wipe off Cora’s face.

It was clear to me that it pained her to know that the arse of an animal was her flesh and blood. He was a monster.
