I stood frozen, my eyes fixed on the retreating figures of Carrie and her new mate. My mind was racing with questions and concerns. Who was this guy? What pack was he from? What was his story? And what did he have to do with my sister?

My mother's words echoed in my mind - "stop her". But I knew it was too late. Carrie was determined to follow her heart, regardless of anyone else's thoughts. And as much as I wanted to protect her, I knew that trying to stop her would only push her further away.

I turned back to my parents, who stared at me with worry and despair. My father's expression was etched with concern, while my mother's face was wet with tears.

"Luke, please," she said, her voice shaking. "You have to talk to her. Make her see reason."

I shook my head, feeling a pang of guilt. I wanted to believe there was still a way to turn back the clock, to make Carrie see that this guy wasn't good enough for her. But deep down, I knew it was too late.
