I walked in on Carl smoking in his room, and I scoffed unbelievably. How could he still smoke in this situation?

"I want to be left alone," He cut me off without even allowing me to say anything, and I scoffed and rolled my eyes. At first, I was sympathetic toward him, but after hearing about everything that transpired between them in the past, I couldn't help the disgust I felt toward him at this moment. I understand how miserable Connor must've felt, the trauma he must've been through when he found them like that, and to think that he never felt remorseful about his actions.
