Chapter Seventy-One

Emma’s POV

Over the next couple of weeks, Liam and I adjusted back to our regular rhythms. Since the night of his birthday, we haven’t slept with each other again, and honestly, at this point, it’s definitely for the best.

About two or three days after that, he asked if Anna could come over and possibly sleepover for the weekend. Even though I wanted to scream ‘no’ at that moment, I knew I had no actual right to determine whether she could come over or not. I mean, to be fair, he had kept her away from the apartment all these months because of me, even though I didn’t exactly ask him to. Yeah, during our first meeting to talk about the whole marriage thing, he did say we could have our extramarital affairs to our liking, but we were both to keep them out of the house. However, I just felt he’d at some point want her over, considering he and I were more acquainted with each other now, but he never did. Until now, that is.

Well, I agreed because her apartment was apparently being fumigat
