These last hundred years have been shitty. We knew there was something happening, but we had no idea who was causing the problems. It turns out a few elementals decided to go all psycho and power-hungry and cause a shit ton of problems. I think we knew there was an issue a few hundred years ago, considering elementals had begun to disappear, but we just thought it had to do with the black market. We figured, just like all the other supernatural, that they had gone into hiding to keep safe. A large number of them did, but many didn’t. A few of the more powerful ones banded together and started kidnapping any elementals they could get their sleazy hands on. They found a way to transfer power from the lesser elementals to them.
