“Aww!” I cried out at the sizzling pain in the back of my neck. It felt like burning larva as it slowly crawled down my neck to the mid of my back. I stayed very still until the pain faded away. What the hell was that?

I blinked my eyes open and looked around. I was in my room. Alive, I think.

I rose up slowly into a sitting position. When I didn’t topple over I stood up on my feet on the warm floor. I rocked for a second as the room tilted. Once I felt steady enough I walked to the bathroom and pulled open the folding mirror.
