"My son is a Prince!" My mother exclaimed excitedly as she pinched and tugged at my cheeks. "Look at how tall he's grown since the last time we saw him!"

"That's because you were in heels," Dad chuckled as he watched her squeal in delight.

"Nonsense. He's a smart, tall man with good manners and great hair. Let's see if the Handerson's can beat that. Fucking bastards."

"You really don't have a filter sometimes, Abigail." He said fondly as he held my wrist and pulled me away from her. "But of course, there's no way that they can top that."

She folded her arms and grinned proudly. "My son is a jewel."

"Thank you," I said bashfully as I scratched the back of my head nervously.

The Handerson's were a rival family of ours and they also had one child. My parents and his parents competed over everything from business expansion to how great their children are.
