Chapter One

Abigail took subtle steps into her office. She was surprisingly very early and everyone that was at work before she came had to hide away from plain sight just to stay off her path. Apparently, no one wanted to be the scapegoat of the day.

She had a few files she needed to submit to the board of directors that afternoon, so she had to get everything ready on time. On getting to her office, she saw that her secretary wasn't there yet. Her face wrinkled, stumped by the absence of her own secretary.

She caught on to something. Walter, her direct secretary, does not come to work at the designated time he had always signed in, and it was already a little late past that time. She was determined to make him pay for fooling her. She can't afford to be trampled upon, and definitely not by a man!

She opened the door to her office and settled in. She specifically hired a man to be her secretary to show that women can also rule the world and men are absolutely not needed for anything.

It was fun for Abigail to know that Walter was struggling to meet up with the requirements for the job. She wasn't going to sack him just yet, she was going to make him suffer a little more. The thought of this thrilled her so much that she smiled to herself.

It got frustrating when she had to dust her chair herself, bummer! And her morning coffee wasn't even available. She was getting frustrated and furious at this point but had to wait for Walter to come in so she could transfer all her aggression to him.

Soon enough she received a notification that he has signed in minutes after she came and he wasn't even there yet. He walked in seven minutes after and met her. The coffee in Walter’s hands fell off immediately because he was in a state of shock. The fear streamed all over his body, making him tremble down to his feet.

"I can see that you're really early. Even though you signed in..let me see... fifteen minutes ago?" She chuckled in awe, amused by her own sarcastic remark.

"Hmm, but you just came in. Didn't you?"

Walter kept fidgeting. He didn't know what to say to her.

"I'm very sorry boss, I had a really serious matter to attend to. That was why I came late.” He stuttered, fixating his gaze on the floor.

"Shut it already! Enough with those lame excuses!" She thundered.

"That's not the deal here. The deal is that you've been doing this for a while and the only way you could have pulled this off is if you hacked into my system."

"Outrageous! I should have you arrested!"

She growled, picking up her intercom while pretending and putting up an act as though she wanted to call in security to get him. He went on his knees suddenly and began to beg for mercy.

Abigail smiled, showing off her thirty two dentals. This was what she wanted anyways. She couldn't possibly forgive him for this, but she let him be for now.

"Get up and get me the files."

Walter was still finding it hard to stand up. He was sure his arrogant boss wouldn't spare him. So why was she letting him off the hook?

Abigail had to reiterate herself again before he complied. His legs were all wobbly and shaky as he left the office to get what she asked for. He came in minutes after, still avoiding looking into her face.

She grinned from ear to ear, enjoying the fear emanating from him.

He gave her the files and turned to leave.

"Walter!"

He turned around slowly, his heart beating heavily in his rib cage.

"What do you think you're doing exactly?"

"These aren't the files I asked for. For the record, you're becoming really clumsy these days. Would you like to lose your job?" She asked in a serious tone.

"I'm sorry ma'am"

"Oh, please, save it!"

Abigail had already had enough of Walter for the day, then this.

"Get it immediately, and return this. If I don't finish up before the meeting I have, you'll surely get fired!"

He scurried off immediately and finally got the right files. Walter left her office after he handed it over and she began to work on it for the meeting.

Luckily for Walter, it went well and the board of directors were satisfied. Something she never thought she would live to see. She was about packing so she could go home when she received a call.

"Abigail dear." Her grandma greets in a soft voice.

"Hi Grandma." She replied.

"How's my favorite granddaughter doing?"

Abigail rolled her eyes... "Granny, I'm your only granddaughter."

"You're still my favorite baby girl. You're off from work, right?"

"Yes of course, I'm leaving for home now." She answered in a tired voice.

"I heard of the meeting, hopefully you didn't mess things up." Her grandmother said in a harsh tone.

"Granny! You're being harsh. When did I ever mess any thing up?"

"Okay child, run along now that you have kids at home to take care of."

"Bye, granny! Take care"

She ended the call and followed it with a sigh.

She headed home to pick up her kids from their babysitter, Myla. They were pretty much occupied.

The girls were playing games while her son was trying to put a sketch together. She had Triplets.

Her son seemed really engrossed and equally exhausted. They didn't even notice her presence for a while until Myla informed them that their mom was here for them.

The girls looked up and saw her, and their faces lit up immediately with delight.

"Mummy!!!" They all shouted, hugging the lower parts of her body. Abigail chuckled, feeling all the stress of the day rolling down her back.

"Hello, my pretty and handsome kids. I missed you guys, soooooo much." She said in a wobbly voice, bending down to their heights as she enveloped them in a big warm hug.

"Thank you, and goodbye Myla, see you tomorrow." She said to the baby sister. Amongst the many humans on earth, Myla was probably the only human she could stand and also smile at.

Her kids waved Myla goodbye as they got into the car. Soon enough, Abigail was already driving home.

On getting home, she made the kids shower then prepared dinner for them.

To the outside world, she might seem like some overbearing cold billionaire. But to her kids, she was definitely the best mom.

No one would believe that the cold billionaire, Abigail Weston, really does not have a single maid in her house. She only has two security officers, and that was all.

Abigail believes in family and togetherness, she wants to create a safe space for her kids and also draw them closer to her. And, probably, that was why she didn't need any external party in her house.

The kids dinner consisted of Italian pasta and poached eggs with orange juice. She wanted them to release their bowels and be alright. The kids were happy, so they finished their food under a minute.

"And now... it's time for bed." Abigail announced, stepping out of the kitchen and into the sitting room.

"No! No mummy, I don't want to go to bed." Maurice cries out, stomping her feet on the tiled floor.

"I also don't want to sleep right now, mom." Denise seconded.

In no time at all, the three kids were on their knees while giving her the puppy eyes.

"No! No! No! No! I will not fall for those eyes. Definitely not tonight." Abigail said, folding her hands below her boobs.

"Ugh, I'm too weak." Abigail muttered, faking a death scene while the kids laugh celebrating their victory.

Abigail puts on a cartoon series for them and went up to her room to work a little, and also to take care of some documents.

It would be an understatement to say that she was exhausted, but she was also excited to be rounding up the file.

She stared at the wall clock, "Fuck!" She face palmed herself, getting up from the bed. The time was 11pm, and it was way past the kids’ bedtime.

Denise and Maurice were still awake but Elise was already asleep. So, while she both of them to their rooms, she carried Elise in her arms.

"Mommy, when are you going to bring daddy." Elise, who's supposedly asleep, muttered incoherently while turning in her sleep.
