CHAPTER 3

CASPIAN'S POV

I paced my office, with my hands deep in my pocket. My wolf has been restless for a while now and I still didn't know the reason. To be truthful, the beast had refused to talk to me.

Finally tired of pacing, I stopped in front of the glass walls to have a good view of my pack.

Our guest had finally arrived and it took everything I had not to go welcome the famous leader of the Blue eye rogues. Feeling how restless my wolf was, I feared losing control and shifting if I went out to meet them.

“They just settled in alpha, "Aslan mind-linked me.

“What are they like? Do you think they are capable of handling this case?"I asked eager to know his answer.

He was silent and then said:

“Their leader is pretty much young for someone who solved the “katanga" case. But when I see how fast she was in taking down our most trained and trusted warriors, then I think she shouldn't be underestimated,"

Why did I feel the sudden need to meet her? No one had fascinated me this way before.

“OK then! Let's wait and see. Now remember to warn our warriors to be vigilant omega should go to their quarters, it's against the new rules. By the way, did you find a new PA for me ?"

“Not yet alpha but tonight surely," he answered after a pause.

“Take care of our visitors, we will meet them tonight at the pack house,"

“Yes alpha" he replied before closing his mind link.

Suddenly I had the urge to shift, I wanted to feel the wind through my fur.

Checking my wristwatch, I sighed. I still had an hour before my meeting. I couldn't shift cuz I feared losing control and not coming back on time.

So I decided to sit down and concentrate on my work. It took me close to an hour to win the silent battle with my wolf and focus on my work.

At six pm exactly, I finished my meeting and there was no way I was sitting any longer in this office. Standing up abruptly, I closed my computer and headed outside. Ignoring my head of security, I walked back to the pack house.

The pack house was rather noisier than usual with Omegas going up and down. What was Mom planning again?

Ignoring her and my so-called cousin, I took long strides to my room ignoring the panicked omegas as they saw me coming. My room was freshly cleaned and smelled of lavender.

Rapidly undressing, I went for a shower. The cold water helped calm down my itching skin, after standing there for a long time. Finally, by 7 p.m., I was ready for my meeting with the blue-eyed rogues.

Throwing a last glance at myself in the large mirror found in the corner of my dressing room, I went down to my office. The maids around seem to have dispersed as soon as they felt my presence. Mother was nowhere to be seen and I asked myself if she went to see Father in the hospital.

Remembering how my mom had panicked when she heard that I killed my PA made me grin. Maybe after all, my secretary had done me a favor and it was going to take time before Mom proposed a girl to me again.

The only trouble was; that I didn't need a mate in my life. So how was I going to deal with her after we met with each other? Women tend to be clingy and that is what I hated the most.

Finally reaching my study, I entered to find Aslan together with the blue-eyed rogues members waiting for me.

I didn't pay attention to my beta bearing his neck in a sign of respect and headed for my seat.

Sitting down, I swirled my chair around and turned to face my visitors. Strangely, there was no usual pungent scent of rogues in the room.

The first faces I saw, were two identical faces with cobalt black hairs and intense blue eyes. One of them seemed to be playing with her fingers while the other one stared into space. I interpreted that as a sign of nervousness. They must have heard who I am, but then I wasn't that bad and killed only when I got mad...

Then my gaze went to the youngest of the group who didn't blink when our eyes met.

Goddess Luna; Was he defying me on my territory? He had blond hair and piercing blue eyes.

Ignoring his disrespect, I turned to the other redhead who had an evil smirk on her face. Her pale blue eyes narrowed and it was down on me that they all had blue eyes. Was that the reason they were called blue-eyed rogues?

Finally, I stared at the eldest of the group. His blonde hair was longer and his blue eyes held defiance. Leaning on the wall with crossed arms on his chest, he stared at me and refused to lower his eyes in a sign of respect.

What was the meaning of this? Was I being disrespected in my pack?

Determined to keep my calm my gaze finally turned to the last woman in the room who still had her back to me and observed the night scenery through the glass walls. Her brown hair in a ponytail with her hands inside her pockets, she seemed more like a spy in a human action movie instead of the usual dirty rogues I had seen or killed in the past.

Clearing my throat I finally broke the silence:

“Could I know who you guys are or do we still have a staring contest to do?

Finally, the mysterious lady turned and our eyes met and at that moment precisely my world crumbled. She was stunning and had deep blue eyes.

Her peachy lips made me gulp.

“Mate," my wolf murmured happily. I waited for a reaction from her but she simply stared at me with an unreadable expression:

“Alpha Caspian, if you had taken time to welcome us this morning you would have known that we are the blue-eyed rogues sent to your pack for a mission. But it seems like there were more important things you had to attain," she answered simply not bearing her neck to me nor lowering her gaze.

I finally understood something; from the moment I entered this office none of them was nervous, they were simply unaffected by my presence and didn't care who I was. For the first time in my life someone didn't stutter in my presence neither could I smell fear in the air.

Not only did they not care who I was, but they went as far as ignoring my presence in my pack.

What the hell was this all about? Keeping my cool I gestured for them to sit down.

The eldest of the group who I presumed to be the leader moved forward and held out a chair for the lady who had answered me before.

Taking her time she sat down then the others did the same and sat at the corners of the room.

“I am Alpha Caspian of the Rising Stars pack. Ignoring your member's disrespect by not bowing to the Alpha, I can say I am happy to welcome you in my pack."

She lifted her brow as her lips twitched :

“I will have said the same Alpha but unfortunately the circumstances do not permit me to do so. And

I must admit that the manners your pack members have are rather very poor compared to my pack members. But contrary to you I must apologize if your ego has been hurt, the blue-eyed rogues bow to no one. I am surprised Anderson didn't give you that piece of information,"

To say I was stunned was an understatement.

She was unbothered by the fact that she was speaking to the Alpha of the rising stars pack. Most of all her mate.

Wait! Did she not feel the bond?

Taken aback by her answer I finally grinned:

“I apologize on behalf of my pack members but you must have expected that as rogues. Now that everything is settled can I know more about the blue eyes rogues?"

Leaning into her chair, she nodded slowly:

“Yeah we had expected that, but you too Alpha, must have expected my group members not to bow to anyone but me." she paused and then continued:

“I am Tamsyn leader to the blue-eyed rogues. That

strong man standing at the far corner of the room is Arden. Those two identical faces there are Lily and Rose.

Then the order redhead there is Novalia. Finally, that young man there is Cruz. Every one of them has a task to carry out as of tomorrow," she finished staring at me.

I nodded impressed with her organization:

“So what do you need me to do?"

“Very simple Alpha. Cooperate and everything will go on smoothly."

I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding. She was rather direct and that intrigued me.

“Perfect! If we have finished talking about the mission, I need a word with you."I said staring at her.

She turned to the others. I didn't hear her talk but I saw their faces change slowly.

After moments of hesitation, they headed out. She must have been mind-linking them. How was that possible? Rogues didn't have that type of bond.

Were they family members or were they from a specific pack? Mind linking Aslan, I asked him to leave us for a moment.

Moments later, we were alone then silence filled the room.

“What did you want to talk about Alpha?" she asked staring at me with her piercing blue eyes.

I released a heavy breath before focusing on her:

“I hope you know that we are mates but most importantly I want you to know that I don't need a mate now. Not now or ever! So I suggest we ignore or reject each other,"

I observed her in silence waiting for her to finally lose her cool. I wanted to see what she was like without that confidence on her face.

Closing her eyes, she rubbed her temple for a moment before focusing on me:

“I get what you mean Alpha. So I am okay with you not needing a mate because believe me I don't need you either. But knowing how strong mate bonds could be, I prefer we ignore each other because I can't handle bond break and my mission at the same time. So all I ask is for you to simply ignore the mate bond and let's have a great collaboration together,"

I was stunned at the ease with which she could say all of this. Was she serious? I swallowed hard; this was new to me. Hoping for her to change her mind I swirled around expecting her to even break down for a moment. No woman could handle being separated from their mate. So she couldn't hold on for long, I tried to breathe waiting for her sob.

“Alpha, I had a long and tiring day. So if you have nothing else to tell me, I will have to go back to my room."

I swirled around and our eyes met. There was no sign of tiredness written on her face:

“Are you really tired or do you want to run off and cry in peace?"I asked Wondering what was wrong with me.

She simply chuckled:

“You overestimate yourself alpha. I simply need to take care of my team members and make sure every one of them has eaten. So don't worry I am not going to cry anywhere."

With a wide grin on her face, she left me mouth agape. Who was Tamsyn leader of the blue eyes rogues?

Fatima bint
