158: A break

Kelvin was snappy. He was angry. It was two days after the phone call and he was still seething. The call had messed up his mood. He shouldn’t have called her. Who was he kidding? As soon as Freya mentioned she wasn’t feeling fine, his heart jumped. 

He missed her too but anger overshadowed other emotions. She hurt him. She ruined his sleep. For a while now, he couldn’t go to sleep without smoking. His sleep was haunted by her voice and wicked words. “Baby killer,” was the only thing echoing in his head. 

Placing his phone down to tame the urge to call her, he set to work. One thing was going well with him. Work. The new office wasn’t what he wanted it to be but they had made gigantic progress since his arrival.
