Jason Smith was seated before me in the confines of my study. I had made it this way so we could have our privacy. There weren't any cameras here, and I had assured him of that.

Leaning my elbows against my table, I stared at him and watched his expression before speaking.

"I know you don't know what happened in the past few days."

He nodded. "All of my belongings have been confiscated, so I don't know what's happening apart from the sun rising and setting."

"Good. My warehouse has been under attack, and with each passing day, a newer one is attacked."

Jason went still, then he blinked and shook his head. Confusion. "Uh-uhm, I'm sorry about that."

"I did not ask you here for your sympathy," I replied and leaned back against my swivel chair before giving him a scrutinizing gaze. "I asked you here because I believe there's something you know and are not choosing to tell me."

Jason sat up immediately and shook his head. "I already told you. There's nothing else
