Chapter 2: I wish he was real

Cassandra POV

"Babe, the first batch of my book is sold out!" I screamed at the phone. The excitement was all over me and I can't control it. This wasn't my first book to get published but the response from readers for this book really surprised me.

I called Scarlet and informed her about the good news once I received the congratulations message from my boss and colleagues this morning.

"I told you, I have trust in you. So, I'm expecting some special treat tonight. Are we going to celebrate this?" She asked on the other line.

"Of course. Anything for you, babe. Just name it." I said with glee.

"Deal. I will choose the place. Ready to be broke tonight." I laughed at her remarks.

"Yeah, I'm so ready," I replied playfully. I'm really grateful for her as she was the one who planted some idea about the book and I completed it in less than one month as it made me falling deep with the character that I wish was real in my life.

"See you at home later, babe. I'm so excited about tonight." I could sense her excitement. We were both overwhelmed by the excitement. I ended the call afterward. It's good to have her in my life after everyone left me.

Nighttime

"Table for two, please." We arrived at the restaurant with a nice dress clutching on our bodies. We weren't always dressed up for something fancy like this as we were more in casual outfits on normal days.

The waiter in bow tie led the way to the empty table with two chairs. We took a seat and he handed the menu to us while recommending some signature dishes of the restaurant. We decided to try Spanish food and we ordered a few more foods that were recommended by the waiter with one bottle of red wine.

"Now, spill the bean." She urged once the waiter left to prepare our order.

"My boss said my story was great and it sold out in a short period. I need to thank you for this. You gave me the idea of this book." I said honestly.

"I just gave you some idea about the character's background. You are the one who wrote the book with sleepless nights. You don't have to thank me for that."

"You have no idea how much I love to write the book and it even makes me fall in love with the hero in the book. I love Carlos Gonzales. I wish he was real." I really spent a lot of time and having sleepless night while completing the book but it never makes me feel tired instead of the story itself make me alive and every time I wrote the book I wish that I meet the person from the book even though I know he only lived in my imagination.

"You love him?" She asked jokingly.

"Yeah, surprisingly. I will marry him if he is real." I chuckled at my own remark. Dreaming is not a sin anyway.

"I can't imagine if you really meet the real Carlos Gonzales."

"Forget about it, he wasn't real. He is just a fake person in the book. By the way, I'm wondering where you got that idea." I asked for the first time since she gave me the idea of the hero.

"From somewhere. Anyway, that's not important. The good thing is that the book was sold out in a short time." We paused the conversation when the waiter approached us with a tray of food that we ordered earlier.

He placed the food on our table neatly and helped us to open the wine and poured it into our glasses. He slightly bows before leaving the table.

"Shall we?" I asked while lifted the glass with red wine.

"Cheers." We said in unison and made the glass collides. A large smile was plastered on our faces.

Carlos POV

I was shocked when I heard the conversation of two women at the back of our table.

"I love Carlos Gonzales."

"I will marry him if he is real."

I almost choked when I heard she mentioned my name. It couldn't be so much coincident as she mentioned my family name too. I diverted my attention to her while silently listened to their conversation.

I couldn't see her face clearly as her friend that sat across her blocked the sight. However, I could hear her voice clearly as our table's arrangement was not far and it was quiet in the restaurant. Only some soft music was playing in the background.

"Did they just mentioned your name or I heard it wrongly?" Miguel asked, sharing the same expression with me. No doubt that he heard about the conversation too.

"I guess so. And they mentioned some books. What is that about?" I said in a low tone, don't want them to notice us but somehow their conversation attracted me.

I twirled my head to the side, hoping that I could see her face but failed. Only half of her figure was shown as her friend was sitting across her. She dressed in a knee-length white dress with light blue flowers knitted on the dress. She has long hair, fair skin, and approximately 5'3 feet. She didn't notice that I was admiring her beauty even though it wasn't really clear.

"Let me search for it. Maybe we will get something from here." Miguel said, snapping me back to reality. He took his phone out of his pocket and starts to type something on the screen.

"What are you searching for?" I asked looking at his action.

"Wait, oh, this sounds interesting." He smirked. He handed the phone to me after scanning it for a while.

"It will surprise you," he said with a naughty smile on his smile. I took the phone from his grip and read carefully the news that he showed me.

"Bestseller book; Carlos Gonzales, the famous CEO's love story." I read the headline.

"Meaning?" I asked not really understand what was going on.

"Congrats, bro. Someone wrote your story and made you the hero of the book." He chuckled and pointed to the back, where the women were seated.

"So, she is the writer?" I inquired.

"I think so. Wait, let me see," he answered and took away his phone.

"Cassandra Johnson," that's the writer's name, he continued.

"Where can I get the book?" It caught my attention. Reading novels wasn't part of my thing but I wanted to know more about it. Or, probably the girl in the white dress that mentioned my full name fascinated me?

"I think we can get it from some bookstore. It should be easy to get since it is a best seller book." He said while chewing on his food.

"Let's go. I need to get it before we leave for tomorrow." I gave a sign to the waiter for the bill. I got some idea and took out my pen and wrote something on the clean napkin.

I stood up from my chair and brushed past their table. I wanted to take a look at her face clearly before I leave but God makes me wait for some time. She lowered her head while enjoying the dinner and I walked away as if I didn't hear her mentioned my name earlier.

I stopped at the front counter and handed the napkin with my notes to the waiter. I asked the waiter to pass it to the girl in a white dress that still unaware of my presence.

Cassandra POV

"Your bill has been settled, miss." The waiter's remarks made me bewildered. I turned to look at Scarlet, silently asking if she got any idea about this but she just shrugged her shoulder. Who will be the one that paid for our dinner?

"Who is the person that paid for it?" I asked as the curiosity hit me.

"I'm not sure about the name, miss. Maybe you can find the answer here. He asked me to pass this to you." He handed me a clean napkin that was folded in love shape. I turned to the backside and saw handwritten notes on it.

'What a beautiful fate. We will meet again, Cupcake.'

Your hero in real,

C.G'

I knitted my brows reading the short message on the napkin. Who is the mysterious sender? Is it my secret admirer? And it mentioned we will meet again. He will come and looks for me? My stomach suddenly bloomed with some weird feeling, as if the butterflies were flying inside. I never received something mysterious like this before.
