Author’s POVThere was an eerie feeling in the air as Ronan moved through the woods stealthily. He could sense some presence behind the thick bushes, and even though whoever it was did try to hide its scent, he caught a whiff of it and it almost seemed familiar. He should have listened to Timon who advised that he took a carriage to meet with his family. But something told him to go his usual route. He halted his steps to listen to be sure he heard right. All of sudden a big wolf matching his frame jumped at him from nowhere sinking his teeth into Ronan’s upper body, but he missed and only got to tear out a bit of his fur. Before he could get a grip on the situation, the attacker pushed him to the ground aiming for his neck vein. Ronan fought hard and gave the wolf a wild kick that sent him reeling backward.Ronan hurried to his feet, gnashing his teeth at his attacker. Just then the attacker shifted into their form leaving Ronan in shock. Callum turned out to be the one behind the wo
Ronan’s POVMy entire world felt like a lie. I still can’t get over everything that Elder Callum expressed. To think I felt guilty for ever suspecting him. All the while I had sleepless nights and battled for my life, he was plotting against me.“Why don’t you go back to the palace, Your Majesty, and let me sort this out,” Timon said.I shook my head feeling a nasty ache making its way to my head. “No, please, I want to see for myself.” I insisted. We were headed for Elder Callum’s house to search properly this time. Even though I still can’t get over the shock of all that he said and his death, I want to get a glimpse of everything. The house was agog when we arrived. All of the maids and guards looked on in fear as Timon and his men searched every room in the house. The remains of Aunt Celine were the first thing that was found. Callum had it wrapped up in a bag and put it into the room she had slept in when she was alive. It was obvious that it was her from the burnt remains of her
Fiona’s POVI glanced discreetly at Ronan and smiled to myself. He looks much better than he was a month ago. When Lord Timon arrived with a carriage saying we were returning to the palace, I thought it was a joke. I had almost given up on the thought that we would ever get to return since Ronan never seemed to have an answer. When we arrived there was a lot of acknowledgment from the very people who didn’t care to see me. I never knew Ronan’s uncle and didn’t think too highly of him after hearing about all that he did. What I didn’t expect was the situation of Freya. It was okay when she plotted to have me dead, but shocking at her intention to kill Ronan. You never know what people are capable of. Dawn didn’t appear too concerned about the death of her father, but she finally got the chance to mourn her mother properly.I felt sorry for Dawn and Ronan, even though my experience wasn’t as epic as theirs. I do know what it feels like to have the ones you trust to play on your heart an
Ronan’s POVLouis let out his loud childish laugh as I tickled his side. It feels so good to finally get the chance to play with my child. We have gotten closer as it should be. He has stuffed himself with every sweet chewables the party has to offer. I have a feeling Isla would have a hard time putting him to bed.“So sorry, Your Highness. I will take him now.” Isla pleaded.“It is alright, Isla. Thank you. Where is my wife?”“She is getting changed.”“Alright, thank you.”After the usual open ceremony that involved every member of the Nestorian kingdom, Fiona was crowned as the Luna Queen. We returned to the palace to celebrate with a ball, ushering in anyone who desired to attend. Fiona made the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in her wedding dress. I wish we didn’t have to be so engaged in honoring our guests and just have her to myself.“Wow, he is, the man of the hour.” Timon teased sitting next to me.“I have been looking around for you. Where have you been?” I questioned.
Fiona’s POV…“That’s 20 gold pieces for the next two months and a little tip for all the hard work you’ve been doing lately. I never expected this tavern to be up and running in such a short time. Good job, Fiona!”“Thank you,” I smiled as I collected the small sac of gold pieces that Basi, the tavern owner, threw on the ground I was mopping.Today was a good day, as not only had I just finished all the work I’d been assigned, but I had just received something I never expected Basi to be so generous as to hand me; advance payment! My wolf, Rin, howled within me. She could feel the excitement too. After labouring, I removed my apron and changed it with my jacket from the stand to head back home. The night worker would take over from where I stopped. She was in for a whole lot because the tavern was mostly active at night hours. My back cracked as I stretched; it ached from bending for such a long time with hardly any rest, but what could I do? I needed the wage, after all.I giddily co
Fiona’s POV…“What did you do, Hugo?” I asked him sternly. He bent his head, “well, I went ahead and did it anyway.”I threw my hands in the air frustratedly. “For the goddess’s sake, Hugo! Why would you do such a thing when I told you not to? Do you realize the kind of trouble you’re getting yourself into?”“It’s easy for you to talk about what’s allowed and what’s not when you can easily find labour. Do you know how difficult it’s been for me? Every day I go out, people look at me like I’m a bad person, and then no one wants to employ me! They keep accusing me of chasing after women when I don’t even know what they’re talking about. They’re wrong. I’ll show them! They’ll see!!!”"Hugo…” I shook my head. “Was this what you needed the money for the last time you asked me?”Hugo nodded slowly in response. “Yes, my darling, but I promise, it’s for our future. Once I’m done with this deal, I will wash my hands completely off it.”I sighed, “so, what problems are you experiencing now?”“T
Fiona’s POV…I was scared to come close, contemplated even running away and pretending I didn’t just see this, but something held me back. I don’t know what it was, but it seemed the goddess brought me here for a purpose.I came closer to the body and realized it was a young man, about 10 years older than me, dressed in expensive fabric. Oh, goddess! He must be a noble, and I am certain he is not from Abia. No one in our village could ever afford such majestic clothing. Why is he here, then? Is he sleeping or what? Is he drunk? I couldn’t perceive any alcohol or any of the sort, so the answer was no. How did he end up here, then?I tried touching him to see if he would wake up, but he didn’t. He was unconscious, and not just that, he was bleeding! Seriously from a stabbed wound!Oh no! I gasped, realizing that whoever brought him here must have wanted him killed. From my senses, I knew he still had some life in him, but it was slipping away slowly. If I do not save this man now, he wi
Author’s POV…“Fiona!”“Fiona!!! Wait! Just listen to what I have to say before you go! It’s not what it looks like!” Hugo yelled behind Fiona after she stormed out angrily from his house front.“Are you going after her her?” Laurel asked, looking distraught.“I’ll be back, babe,” Hugo kissed her after putting on some pants to hide his nakedness before running after Fiona.“Fiona! Wait! Will you just listen?”Fiona had almost shifted to her wolf form to run away from this place as fast as possible, before something stopped her; the reason she’d come here. Fiona hated being desperate but she didn’t have a choice. She cursed under her breath as she waited for Hugo to reach where she was standing.Fiona then turned to yell at him, “so, how is it not what it looks like, huh? You banging my best friend behind my back? After all I did for you? You have the guts to betray me, Hugo!”Tears escaped her eyes as she banged at his chest, he quickly used his hands to stop her before she would inf
