Placing protective hands around my swollen belly, feeling a lump in my throat, I wondered why on Earth this Madeline woman wanted my child. From what I gathered, she took me and I’ve been here for four months. While wondering the actions and motives of this woman it took everything I had not to burst into tears, remembering that my sister was on the other side of the door, fighting for my safety. She loves me, came a sobering thought with memories of our earlier childhood flashing through my mind, before we got older; before we started turning on each other. How she used to sneak me more ice cream when mum and dad weren’t watching, how she chased away the bullies that picked on me and how she would tell me stories of the Moon Goddess and how She would grant wishes to lost souls who would howl at the moon.
