Chapter - 52
Ivy's POV
Chris had been busy with his meetings all day long, and so had the rest of his council members, which left us girls alone. Misha, Luna Sheryl, Luna Kaitlyn and Luna Seline had all joined me and my small party of friends. We had spent the day lounging about in the pool, simply having fun.
While Misha and Luna Sheryl seemed to blend in with our small group almost effortlessly, chatting away happily with Harper and Gia about make up and dresses, the same couldn't be said for the other two. Luna Kaitlyn was much too shy to speak much and Luna Seline, well, she was a completely different story altogether. At the dinner last night, she had seemed at least a little bit friendly, if not downright hostile. Today, though, with the veil of forced politeness gone, she had been anything but friendly, choosing to lounge on one of the chair than bother speaking with anyone.

I couldn't hear what they were talking about given the distance between us and the murmurs of other conversations around me. Ivy's POV The Ball last night had been a pleasant enough affair. Save from the lone incidence about what had happened with Luna Seline, everyone had been pleasant enough to me. The next two days and nights had gone by in a similar fashion, with little to no incidence and tonight was the last night of the Imperial Ball. I was happy that everything had gone as smoothly as it had. Chris' POV Ivy looked around, the panic clear on her face. As far as I knew, Misha had become a good friend of hers over the course of the last few days, and she was obviously worried for her friend. I was too. I couldn't even begin to think about the kind of chaos it would cause if Alpha Hunter somehow ended up getting hurt. I had a feeling he was strong enough to protect himself and his mate if need be, but the attackers seemed to have mind controlling abilities too. Ivy's POV I made my way to my room as soon as possible. I hadn't wanted to leave Harper alone in a time such as this but checking that journal seemed important now given what I had witnessed. After noticing the way Fred's body had reacted to the venom, my mind had instantly flashed to the journal my father had left for me. I remembered reading something similar in it. Chris' POVThe attacker was a vampire. It hadn't been clear when he had been unconscious but one look at his face when he woke up, and we all knew without a doubt what he was.
