Chapter 34 - Journey

Adhler arranged the relocation of the whole research the very next day after confirming it with Charlene. The sun is still sleeping, and the moon— though half-seen— is still blessing the land with its light.

Adhler put a coat around Charlene’s shoulder, “Are you alright? You have been spacing out since yesterday. Does it bother you?” Adhler asked. Charlene looked at him as if she had no idea what he was talking about. Adhler smiled softly. How could someone be so adorably innocent? — is what he thought.

Charlene stood up, and the two of them started to walk, “What do you mean?” she asked. Her breath formed a misty cloud from the cold. Adhler faced her and tucked her loose hair behind her ears.

“Ignes,” he said, then gazed into her obsidian eyes, “Does she bother you? You can tell how surprised I was when she arrived in the laboratory,” they started walking again. Adhler grabbed Charlene’s hand, held it tight, and put them inside the pocket of the coat he was wearing.
