She Is A Burden

Zendaya was having fun, playing with the nanny in her bedroom. They played different games since Dave forbade them from stepping out of the room.

The nanny was surprised to see Zendaya laugh heartily, but all the same, she was delighted to see how happy she looks,   her laughter echoes through the four walls of the Packhouse.

The joy that emanates from her eyes, shows a different side of her that no one ever seen before, nanny carlisa feels very good that she gets to see this side of the sweet girl, whom everyone deemed a 'lunatic', she was gazing at her intently, then Zendaya became shy and retreated after seeing how the nanny was staring at her with her mouth wide open, she became nervous about it.

“What? are you sure about this? ”Melina exclaimed when someone told her something on the phone.

“You can't be serious about this, how did that happen? I mean when? What am I even saying? this is very shocking to me ”Melina said with a look of utter shock on her face as she receives the call.

“I'm telling you the truth, Melina, when have I ever lied to you before? I saw everything with my own eyes, that's why I decided to give you a call since I think it will be of help to you, right? Jasmine said from the other end of the phone.

“you are right about that, baby girl, I can't believe you always come through for me, every time, thank you so much” Melina appreciates.

“what are friends for? Melina? I will always have your back, Jasmine replied, before dropping the call.

 Immediately the call ended, Melina held her phone against her chest, closing her eyes and laughing hysterically, she continued laughing for a while, then she opened her eyes and twirled around joyously.

“so this is what is going on in the great vertex pack!? I can't believe it, but it's great! No, I mean, I can use this to my advantage, right? She asked sarcastically, making a pouty looking, and swerving her head in different directions.

“I'm going to utilize this opportunity in the best way I can, yeah I know what to do,” she said with the look of culmination on her face. “ I can always count on the Queen to make my plans easier, let me go and notify her about everything happening in the pack.

With that, she hurriedly left the room, slamming the door with a loud bang.

She ran in the direction that leads to the queen's room when she got there, she flinches for a while, then knocked softly on the door, queen Naya gave her a go-ahead and she went in, with a pitiful look on her face, before leaving her room, she had made sure to have her best pretentious look on.

“Aunt, I'm sorry to disturb your leisure time, but I can't help it, I just heard something, and I know you are the only one who trusts me enough to heed to my words,” she said, holding her hands and kneading them gently.

“since when did you learn to beat around the bush Melina? The queen asked raising her brows, "you were never this weak, what is going on with you Melina, and what did you want to tell me? She implores, taking her hands in hers, while her other hand holds on to her back, caressing her gently and looking directly into her eyes.

“Well aunt, you know how Dave is, right? He gets angry about every little thing I said or do, that is why I'm trying to tread gently to avoid saying something wrong”_ she explained with sadness, evidence in her tone, then she uses the back of her palm to wipe the tear that threatens to fall off her eyelids.

“ Sorry about that aunt, she utters wiping her eyes, “ I heard from someone that Mr.vertigo has refused to take on the responsibility of supplying Vitrano to our pack, and it's all because of that tramp ”she shrieks, emphasizing on the tramp. “ that lunatic is the reason why Dave got into a bug fight with Mr. Veryigo and now he has refused to have anything to do with this pack and has also asked others to do the same,” she said with concern in her voice.

The moment, queen Naya digested what Melina said, she flares up with anger.

“What? No, that's not possible, it can't happen, I won't allow that to happen to Dave ” she yells, standing up from her seat ferociously “ I won't let her succeed in ruining my son, I won't let her ” she yells firmly, shaking her head in denial.

“ I also heard that the people plan to remove Dave as the Alpha if the Vitrano doesn't get to the pack before the full moon night ” she instigated more with a maleficent look on.

After listening attentively to Melina. the queen became even angrier, she found her way out of the room, heading towards the living room, Melina ran after her, with a vicious and sinister smile on her face.

“wait, aunt ”she calls out pretentiously 

“don't do anything irrational, please, She yells after her.

When they got to the living room, she couldn't find anyone, she wanted to call out to Zendaya but Melina restricted her from doing so.

It's was already dinner time, Melina sat at the dining table with the queen sitting opposite her, and Domingo on the other side.

They ate their dinner in silence, nobody spoke, and the atmosphere looks tense and terrifying.

The nanny took Zendaya for a bath since it was already getting late and Dave was yet to be back, Dave had warned her not to take Zendaya out of the room, there was no way she could get dinner for Zendaya if she didn't leave the room. Then she decided to take her for a bath first, subsequently, she would find a way to get dinner for her. 

After getting her dressed up, she was about to break the promise made to the Alpha when she heard his voice downstairs, she retreated and went back to playing with Zendaya, as they await his arrival.

After spending the entire day, looking for a new way to get the supplies, Dave finally returns home, looking tired and tattered from the stress, he had undergone while scouting for the suppliers. Despite all that, they couldn't find anyone who would have the guys to go against Mr.vertigo.

Simply thinking about how cowardly the people behaved earlier, he felt disgusted and if he had his ways he would have ended their existence right then, but he didn't know what to do that.

“Dave, I will try to set up a meeting with suppliers from outside the city, maybe we might get lucky to find someone who would, can't strike a deal with us ”, Dino cut into his thoughts, he turns back to have a look at him.

“That is a great idea, you should do that, maybe we might be lucky this time” if nothing happens then,  would have to look for another mean, he replied dejectedly.

His eyes look enormous, and his appearance was scrawny.

Without saying another word, he went away, going into the Packhouse, while Dino went another direction.

Dave enters the house and found his way towards the staircase, he didn't pay attention to detail, so he didn't know that they were people having dinner in the dining room when he was about to climb the staircase holding the railing, he heard an eerie voice from behind.

The voice was cold and gentle, but with a little bit of emotion in them.

He knew, who the voice belongs to,  much ado.

“how did everything went? Queen Naya asked, causing Dave to halt in his tracks. 

“not now, mom, we can talk about it tomorrow, I'm really tired and I need to get some rest now,” he said, attempting to make his way upstairs, but she spoke up again.

“ We are talking about it right now, she flared up with anger in her eyes, “I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me what happened at the mall ”she stood up from her seat, walking towards him with her hands at akimbo. 

“ is it true that the deal was canceled, even before you could sign it? Tell me!!! She screams out loudly, and everyone shudders, holding their gusts. 

Dave had a look of indifference on his face, he didn't have the strength and time to argue with her, but he didn't want to humiliate her by walking away, while she was still talking, he decided to listen on, while she rants her heart out.

“ I have told you about that girl you brought home, that girl is nothing but a bunch of trouble and you can see, right? I told you, that lunatic girl is a burden and she is going to be the end of you if you don't take her back to the streets where you picked her up from” she snapped her finger across his face, “ she would ruin you, and everyone else” she moved back few steps.

 Melinda stood up from her seat, immediately she saw the queen moving towards Dave earlier,  she became extremely happy when the Queen blames Zendaya for everything that is happening.

She was laughing all through but hid her smile from everyone.

She had convinced the queen to wait for Dave before taking any action against Zendaya, and now the time is here.

She jubilates pretentiously. 

When Melina saw the queen moving backward, she became alert, she moved closer to her, she held her shoulders gently. She caressed her back lovingly.

“ Dave, aunt is right about this, everyone is talking about it, and it won't be long before they start questioning your ability to make decisions, and your capabilities when it comes to their safety, what I mean is that you should consider taking her away from this pack,” Melina said gently, while still holding Naya's shoulders and clasping them.

“oh shut your fucking mouth, who asked you to interfere in this? Who asked you to say this trash, you just spilled? Dave snapped at her and she shut her mouth instantly. 

“Dave!!!! Queen Naya shrieked 

“is that how to speak to your fiancee in front of everyone? what is wrong with you? She inquires, glaring at him, with her hands caressing Melina.

After Dave said these words to her, Melina buried her head in her hands and started wailing bitterly.

Queen Naya became angrier and her hatred towards Zendaya grew even more fierce. The look on her face can attest to how much she hates her.

She believes that Zendaya was responsible for everything, including the fight between Dave and Melina, and she wants nothing more than to see her being thrown out of the pack. 

While she was still deep in thought, Melina snapped her body away from her grip, she ran away from the living room in tears. She went upstairs.

The moment, she was away from everyone's gaze, Melina used her palms to wipe her fake tears away, then she began laughing silently while watching them from the corner, where she had hidden her thin body.

She had a victorious smile on.

“I have successfully created a scene here today, and it won't be long before, the queen throws that lunatic out of this house ”she thoughts fiddling with her index finger.

“I hate her, I can't believe, I have to compete with a lunatic before I get my hands on what I came here for, and what is worse than the fact that nobody is even talking about my marriage to the Alpha” she groans bitterly, stomping her feet against the floor, with jealousy in her gaze.

“ why do I have to be so unfortunate? Why? Why? She asked continuously kicking hard against the wall.

Queen Naya was so furious after Melina left in tears, she became more firm in her bid to send Zendaya away from the pack. 

“if you don't send Zendaya way from this pack, before the end of the next three days, then, you will have yourself to blame for my death, I'm warning you, I will end my life if you insist on keeping that girl in this pack,” she said with a note of finally in her tone.

After saying that, she turned back and left the hall, without saying anything else. 

The atmosphere became tense and quiet, no one said anything about what happened, Dave left after digesting everything his mother said to him.

Sometimes, he feels that he doesn't belong here z due to how his mother treats him, and force him to do things according to her wishes and desires, she never stops to think about how he feels about everything, although he has never gone against her wishes, he is not happy about everything she made him do.

Dave knocked silently on the door, when he got to the entrance to his room, he could not wait to see Zendaya z he has missed her so much, and he didn't even get to spend some time with her before he left earlier this morning, and now he came back late.

He prayed silently that she would still be awake when he got back.

A couple of minutes later, the nanny opened the door hesitantly, she was scared that someone else was at the door. When she saw the Alpha, her face light up with joy. 

She opens the door and left it ajar walking back into the room to get Zenny before Dave enters the room. 

As soon as Zenny set her eyes on Dave, she ran up to him beaming with joy, she wanted to hug, but she kept resisting the urge to when she could no longer hold back her desires, she threw herself into a warm embrace with him, but a force pulled them apart from each other, and Zendaya fell on the bed, while Dave found himself on the floor, his eyes were full of shock.

He couldn't understand why this, kept happening to them each time, he tries to get closer to Zendaya more than simply holding hands, most times, it happens, even when they hold hands. 

He was petrified about what just happened, and even the nanny looks terrified, but she understood something from the scenario.

Dave took Zenny back into the room, sat her on the bed, then the nanny came up to him with her head down.

“Sir, I will go and get yours and Zenny's dinner, she hasn't had dinner yet, since there was no one to watch over her, while I go fetch her dinner” she explains gently.

“it's fine, you can go and get it, while I freshen up so long ”, he responds following her to the door after she stepped out of the room, he slammed the door behind her and make sure it was locked. Then he went back.

He took off his clothes and went into the bathroom to have a cold shower.  He spent thirty minutes in the bathroom, allowing the cold water to drip down his body and penetrating his mind, he forgot about his problems for a while, during this time. 

But when the thought Zenny flashed into his mind, he quickly got dressed and left. He found her crouching silently while staring at her reflection in the reflector.

Dave heard a loud knock, the moment he stepped into the room, he went to get it, the nanny walks in with a trolley of food.

Zenny jumped up excitedly at the sight of the food, Dave was staring at her with joy in his eyes.

They had dinner and retired to bed, after a long stressful day.
