Back home (Part Two)

Maddison P.O.V.

20 minutes later we’re all gathered in the conference room. I had to go downstairs as some of our pack members wanted to see me for themselves before believing I was unharmed. I asked Selene if she would mind waiting, and she just shooed me out of the room. I guess that means she didn’t mind.

Pack members had gathered at the staircase in the hall, and all of them cheered and hollered when they saw me with Liam.

Liam. He has been strange since I came back with Selene. I know he blames himself, although there is nothing to be blamed for. He couldn’t know. His mom didn’t know. None of this is his fault, but he is an Alpha and therefore predisposed to think that the world is laying on his shoulders. I need to get through to him.

As we were saying goodbye to the pack members, my mental barrier was bombarded with voices of all my animal friends. They must have been worried sick as well.

I promise them I’ll be out in a little bit, but we have some human stuff we need to h
