I would have held Elizabeth's hand to pull it away from Xander but he stopped me.

"Just leave her Elyse." He said and picked up my son.

"Your mom and I are just friends but I can be your dad if you want, you can call me Daddy Xander."

My son's eyes widened and he smiled broadly. "Oh my god! Really?" My son's voice was full of joy.
