Chapter thirty nine

Hearing the sound of the door, Asher turned sharply, surprised to see her gone. Without thinking, he teleported and appeared right in front of her, deriving a shocked gasp from her. “Where do you think you are going?”

“Don’t do that,” she said, placing a hand on her scared chest. “You almost gave me a heart attack.”

Asher ignored her words and repeated, “where are you going?”

“I’m going home.”

“By this time? Do you have any idea what I just saved you from? How sure are you that they won’t be more? Your only safe place now is with me, Naomi,” Asher said, slightly annoyed at her way of reasoning.

“How can I be here when it’s obvious that you don’t even want me here?” She yelled.

“What the hell do you mean?”

“You know what I mean,” she accused, her eyes blurring over with fresh tears. “You are acting strange, not that it’s really strange since I know where it is leading.”

“Like, you have lost me, Naomi, can you please speak in a way that I can understand?”
