Chapter 36 ~ Something A Lot Thicker

{Cayden’s POV}

I stared at her.

I stared at her like she wasn’t real. Like none of it was real.

“How is she?” I finally asked the nurse who had been standing, gawking at me for more than five minutes.

“She’s- uh.” The Nurse stuttered. “Your mother hasn’t been responding to treatments.” She muttered. “No new signs yet.”

I frowned.

I couldn’t tolerate such vexing news so I gripped something. Tightly.

I immediately heard voices surrounding me and almost immediately, I could feel hands stroking over mine.

“General. You’re choking her.” One voice said despairingly, and I hauled myself my thoughts and realized I had a nurse’s neck in my grasp.

I released her.

She gasped for air as I turned to walk away. I needed to get something done.

“Hey, breathe!” One said.

“How did it feel?” Another asked.

“It was strong. He’s strong!” The victim said.

I heard the nurses chatter as I walked out of the Royal Clinic.
