Death is overrated!

When you know it is your time, the fear of it disappears.

There was no escaping it, I knew it. Frustrated that I had been unwavering in my resolve not to bow to his demands, Deforest had dragged me before the alpha that morning.

"I hope death appeals to you," he had said.

"How is it possible that she's alive?," he managed to ask him, surprised to see me. Even my co maid and friend, Riley, who had come to serve him at his chamber, was shocked to see me. I must have looked like a ghost to them.

"Well, father, here she is," he responded. He clearly enjoyed being the one to have found me.

"How and where did you find her? Didn't everyone say she escaped through the woods? Were you lying to me!? How dare you!," he yelled at him. His anger scared whatever was left of my fucked up life. It was obvious he was looking for another scapegoat.
