Window Seat

As soon as Aira pulled the cloth from the canvas, she knew that this was a decision there was no turning back from. It stared back at her wide and big with its imperfections.

Somehow, she thought that when she sees next time, she would revive every dark feeling she had felt when she had put those covers on top of it all those years back in the past. But, she didn’t.

Time had a strange way of making things seem simpler and less painful than they used to.

She had expected it to hurt so much, as much as it did in her dreams and keep haunting her even more than it already was these days. But she felt strangely calm as she gazed at it. As if she was looking at one of her student’s works and identifying their strong and weak points and the best way to improve their work.

Her hand itched and she reached out for the imaginary table to take her brush and correct the mistakes she was seeing only to find nothing. She froze in her spot for a moment then sighed and reached for the cover again
