Taking Out The Trash

“Good Morning, Boss”

“Good Morning, Miss Boss”

“Good Morning, Boss”

In the company, several employee’s humbly saluted Lydia wherever she went. And by the time she stepped into her private elevator, she had already been greeted by over 200 employees.

“Mya, reschedule all morning appointments. I need you to call up all company secretaries and department managers to my office immediately.”

“Right away, Boss.” Mya took off like the wind, just on cue before Lydia’s phone began vibrating.

Seeing the caller I.D, Lydia showed a true smile. “Is it done?”

[Hmmm…] The man on the other end hummed in acknowledgement. [When do you want to put your plan into motion?]

“2 days from now… And thank you.”

[Hmmm.]

Lydia dropped the call, seeing Mya approaching from outside.

Her office walls allowed her to see the long hallway leading to her office. But those approaching her office wouldn't be able to see what she did here. Mya approached her door with a group of managers and secretaries.

Once inside, Mya lined them up vertically so she could see their faces.

“In 2 hours time, everyone’s progress report regarding their sector as well as the JT-File’s I've been requesting within these last 2 weeks should be brought into my office immediately. Failure to do that will lead to your immediate expulsion in the company.” Lydia said coldly.

In the past, she would try to give all her employee’s more time when they couldn't finish their projects. (WHICH WAS ALWAYS). Her, Mya and a few others would later spend extra hours at work daily, trying to finish these incomplete projects. There were people who did their work on time and there were those that didn't.

She was 19 years old and truly young to the business world, thinking of showing kindness to these bunch of ingrates.

In her past life, she had never sanctioned anyone harshly because they would always cry about how their kid was sick or how they had an accident and so on.

But now, she narrowed her gaze on them, releasing her aura like a lion stalking its prey.

Dear God! Why did their boss suddenly become so scary? Some people grew nervous as they heard her demands, while others smiled and smirked at those who were nervous.

“This company does not keep people who slack at their jobs. The time is 9:25 AM... Ladies and gentlemen, you only have until 11:30 AM to bring the documents to my office. Also, if two or more files are identical, then both personnel will be fired from the company… Go.”

Everyone quickly rushed out of her office as if they were preparing for war. Some already had sweaty palms.

It's good…

Lydia focused her attention on Mya. “ I need you to make arrangements for a temporary place for me to stay in. You have until Friday to get this done.”

“Boss, why temporal?”

“Because I will move in with someone real soon.” Lydia answered with a warm smile on her face.

”But Boss, isn't your Family Trip this weekend? You have already bought the tickets and paid for the lodging, aren't you going?”

“No ... and keep this conversation confidential.”

Mya looked at her boss and knew that something was up. Alright.

“Your wish is my command, boss”

Like so, Lydia made the first move on her chess board, making sure to block all paths the enemy could take. And on the other side of the city, an extremely well-sculpted man sat on his chair listening to his assistant’s report.

“Boss, My investigations are completed. Those men all belong to a vicious gang called black Lotus. Sources say her family hired them to act as her bodyguards, so as to spy on Iss Lydia at all times… Boss, they have done several crimes that could put them in jail for good, such as: child trafficking, selling drugs and murder. Their next child trafficking operation will take place tomorrow at 8 PM.” Secretary Mike answered professionally.

The devilish mysterious man raised the corners of his lips slightly. “You know what to do.”

“Affirmative, boss. Leave it to me.”

------- Lydia’s Office —----

Silence.

Forty people stood in knee-deep silence, feeling the atmosphere so brittle it could snap at any given moment.

Among the forty, some were head secretaries and head managers for the various company departments. As for Mya, she was more of a personal assistant/secretary to Lydia.

Everyone showed different expressions when standing before their 19-year-old boss.

Lydia chuckled. “Let’s start, shall we? Firstly, those that didn’t turn in their files or have submitted incomplete documents. Please step forward.”

Eighteen people stepped forward, which was almost half the group. Lydia’s eyes were cold. “You're all fired. You have 30 minutes to evacuate the premises with your belongings.”

What? Fired?

These people were dumbfounded, their expressions changing from shock to confusion, disbelief, and rage.

“You little vixen! Who do you think you are? Don’t you have any respect for your seniors? Who gave you the authority?”

“Hmph!  Just you wait! I’ll tell you father and we’ll see who has the last laugh.”

“That’s right. Everyone knows that you're just a puppet boss. You have no right to fire us.”

“I will definitely tell your sister about this. Just you wait.”

“Blah, blah, bla, blah, blah.”

One by one, many didn't believe they were fired. One must know that since the girl started the company, they have been stepping over her while still getting a fat salary. The girl has never voiced any complaints, making them think she was a weak chicken that could be strangled at any time.

What's more, the girl always obeyed her family’s every command. So how can she fire the people her family hired and placed in the company? They don't believe it!

Many felt that even if they left today, it won't take long before that family sends them back into the company. But how could Lydia let that happen?

“Quiet.”

Lydia’s tone wasn't loud, but carried the same authoritative stance that made a shiver crawl up their spines.

“I would like to remind you all that this is my company that I built from scratch… Not my family’s. You think I don’t know what you have been up to in my company? You all never finish any reports or projects assigned to you. You take company paid vacations whenever you like, you come late to work and leave way too early…. Tell me, does this look like a charity organization to you? I gave you time to adjust but you failed to do so… Leave my company now or I will have to call security!!!”

“You!--” Many panicked, fleeing the office as fast as they could, not forgetting to throw threatening words on their way out. “Just you wait”

Finally, some peace and quiet.

After the rotten eggs were thrown out, the good ones were left standing. “The rest of you have all worked hard. It’s been tough on you. Although your work needs improvement, it’s still very impressive. Keep up the good work. Dismissed”

“Thank you boss,” They yelled obediently, feeling their heart drum wildly while exiting the office.

~Phew.

They wiped their sweat, secretly swearing never to get on their boss’s bad side.

Too scary!

As for Mya, she  was pleased that her boss was finally willing to get rid of all those people. They never worked and gave her and her boss constant headaches daily... But back to business.

“Boss, I found a suitable penthouse for you to stay in.”

“Good. Go make arrangements for me. This weekend, I moved in. Additionally, hire new people to fill vacant positions in the company.”

“Yes, boss!”

Lydia left the office with a brimming smile, and Lydia was once again all to herself, picking the phone to make a call.

“Alec… Let’s get married.”

[__] The man was first stunned and rendered speechless. But he quickly came back to his senses. And with a light chuckle, he gave her an answer.

[Sure, Wifey]
