Everest
I smiled to myself as I went through the sales book. The improvement in sales got me so happy as I have managed to meet my target for the week. I don’t have to worry about getting a raise.Due to low sales, I haven’t been able to meet my target in the past month and this affected my dream of going to the university as I am always left with nothing after paying my dues to my stepmother.I asked my boss for a raise and she has promised to give me a raise if I manage to meet the target she sets. Holding the sales book closely, I couldn’t stop smiling as I looked at it. This will be the first step to fulfilling my dream.Suddenly I felt a bile rise in my stomach and I rushed to the bathroom to puke for the fifth time that day. I don’t know what I ate that has upset my stomach for the whole week. Everything I eat comes back out as vomit. Nothing stayed in.Last week I was down with a terrible fever, but I couldn’t dare to skip work for fear of reduction in my salary, and the effect it would have on my university dream. I could hardly eat , and everything I managed to get through comes back out.I poured cold water on my face and returned to the shop. However, I was stunned to find Elena waiting for me.I looked at the door and back at her, wondering why she was here.Elena has never visited me before. Not even once. Besides, eight weeks ago after I stood in for her at the hotel, and she came back home with a complaint that I had stirred up trouble at her workplace, she stopped talking to me.Which makes me wonder why she has come? That day thanks to Elena’s complaint my stepmother was so mad that she made me sleep outside in the open sky on the terrace on the bare floor for three days, but at least she was merciful enough to let me bathe and dress up in the house.Even Elena wouldn’t stop yelling every time she saw me. She would cuss and hiss, and call me names.I tried to think of the reason why she could be there but I could think of nothing.“I’m here to help you,” she muttered as if she could read my mind.I frowned as I watched her come closer. She had an envelope in her hand which she waved in the air as she approached me.“What are you doing here?” I asked, ignoring all she said before.“To help you,” she repeated, putting me in a state of confusion.I mean what help could she possibly render to me? And why would she want to help me? Elena hates me and she never ceases to show how much. What does she stand to gain?“To help me?” I asked again to be sure that I heard right before.“Yes,” she nodded before passing the envelope to me.I looked at her and raised my brow as I took the envelope from her. I was about to ask what was in the envelope when my eyes caught the word positive. My eyes scanned further and I saw that it was a pregnancy report in my name, and it was positive.I looked at the results and back at Elena wondering what she was up to but when my mind did the math I understood the possibility of being pregnant. I mean, I had unprotected sex with that stranger and I have been feeling sick in the past week, and battling with terrible nausea. It all adds up now.I had gone to the hospital for a check up, and I had asked that the results be sent to me. How did it end up with Elena? As if to answer my thoughts, Elena smiled as she shifted on her leg. “The hospital called to ask for the address where the reports should be delivered and I gave them,” she shrugged. “The rest is history.”I couldn’t close my mouth or stop staring at the paper. My stepmother will kill me for sure. I don’t even have a boyfriend. How do I explain this pregnancy? My body felt like it had been drained of all energy. I felt dizzy and had to hold the chair to keep myself from falling.“Easy there, dear sister. I’m here to help,” Elena deposited her hand on my shoulder.I raised my head to look at her, knowing that she wouldn’t do anything without a motive. Yet, my mind couldn’t stop thinking of the trouble that lies ahead.I lead a pathetic life. Is it right to bring a child into such a life? What if my stepmother decides to throw me out?“Huh?” I scoffed bitterly. “How?”“Good,” Elena took a chair and placed it before me, such that she was looking straight at me. “We are siblings, so it's only right that we help each other,” She said as she took my hand in hers.I couldn’t utter a word. My mind was jumbled so all I did was stare at her.“You know that Prince Caleb is my mate and we plan to get married,” She began, her eyes looking nowhere else but at me. “However, his parents have decided that we can only be together if I attend the academy.”I wonder why Elena is sharing this information with me, and why she thinks that she could help me by telling me.“You know that Caleb is royalty and he would give me money as long as I asked,” Now she squeezed my hands. “.…And I can keep your secret from my mother,” She paused as if thinking of something.“I’ll keep your secret from mom, help you flee, and give you money to start afresh in another city,” she paused again and locked our gaze.At this point she already has all of my attention. The offer was tempting.I will do anything to keep my stepmother from finding out about my pregnancy. I have always nurtured the thought of fleeing home just to get a better life, but what would I do alone? And without money?Elena is offering me all of this, but at what cost?I knew that she wouldn’t be here if she didn’t have a motive, so I wonder what she wants in exchange for the help she offered.“I can do all these for you if…..” she left her words hanging again, this time she stood up and turned away.Desperate, I stood up too.“If?” I asked, and she turned to look at me.“If you would attend the Luna academy in my place.”A loud knock on the door startled me awake. I looked around and realised that I was alone. There was no sign of Elena.I sighed in relief and smiled to myself. Even though I was still weak from vomiting so much. I struggled to go see the incoming customer. However, I was shocked to see a uniformed man standing at the front desk."I have a letter for Miss Everest," he said. The man was dressed like the palace guards, leaving me to wonder why someone from the palace would have a letter for me."Yes, I'm standing before you," I replied with my hand outstretched and ready to receive the letter."Here ma'am," he handed the letter to me with a bow."Congratulations, you've been chosen to attend the Luna academy."Everest"Congratulations, you've been chosen to attend the Luna academy."I blinked and looked at the man before me in confusion. Did he probably get the wrong address or the wrong person? "What?" I exclaimed as I opened the envelope to see the name written on it. It was no doubt my name, but how? "Don't worry ma'am, it's an all expense paid scholarship," the man added as if to console me. However, I was driven into a more confused state. I mean, how did I get chosen? I do not remember applying. Could this have been done by Elena? I only saw her in my dream a few moments ago and now I have this situation before me. What could this mean? I tried to figure out what was going on but nothing came to mind. All I was able to understand was that I have somehow been enrolled for the Luna academy. How do I survive there? I mean, I'm an orphan who still haven't found her wolf. My parents were both omegas before they passed away, so how can I possibly survive among other contenders? Acco
Everest"On behalf of the royal family, I, Roland, welcome you all to the Luna Academy."A man who I learnt was the king's aide announced as he welcomed us. I looked at the ladies who were also joining the contest. They all looked beautiful and classy, unlike me."And now, I'll show you all to your dorms," He marched forward and two others followed behind him. We followed them and they led us to the dorms. They stopped in front of a building that seemed detached from the academy. "You should all choose yourself in a group of two. I'll be back to show each group to their rooms," Roland stated before marching off. He stopped and turned to look at us. I'd advise you to choose someone you want as your roommate since only two ladies are allowed in each room."The ladies murmured as they chose their partners. We were sixteen in numbers which means that we'll be having eight groups once the pairing is done. "Look at her, I can't pair with her," A blonde lady hissed, her eyes staring at me
Everest"Have we met before?" He asked again, this time The words struck a chord in my mind and I wanted to scream, 'Yes idiot, we've met before at that sleeky hotel where you took me without my permission and promised to make it up to me.'However, one look in his eyes and my anger dissipated. "Have we met before, miss?" He repeated, this time his hands tightly held my shoulders. My heart skipped several beats at his question and my legs almost gave way, but I held myself back and took deep breaths. I can't let him know that we've met before. Who knows what he'll do to keep his dirty deed under the ground? What if he kills me? Could he do that? I took another look at the handsome man before me. He looked like he had walked out of a painting. He was just too handsome for this world. His hair was long and curly, sitting proudly atop his shoulders. His thick brow matched his thick, yet angelic voice. He had sharp pointed noise and a beautiful set of hazel eyes. His lips were thin
Finn"You do not have a sparring partner, do you?" I pointed at the lady sitting on the sidelines. She didn't care that she didn't get to show off her skills like the other girls would have done. Instead she was happily watching as the others practiced."Yes sir, I don't," she stood up immediately. "Very well," I clapped. "You can spar with me."Her eyes widened and she gulped. She looked behind her as if in search of the one I was talking to. "Me?" She touched her chest. I scoffed at her act. "Yes, you.""I...uhm..." She stuttered as she scratched her cheek. "You want....me..." She touched her chest again. "...To spar with you?"Her way of repeating the same question was annoying. I mean, she got the point so why ask again?I didn't say anything in response to her questions. Instead I crossed my arm and waited until she read the signal and chose to come to me. "But I can't....." She sighed. "Attack me," I ignored whatever she was about to say. "Huh?" She widened her eyes.I kn
Everest. His words made me feel special but I knew better. I felt his arms around my waist.“Your Voice..” He muttered, dragging his statement. It seems he had something else to say but refrain himself from saying it. If I stayed any longer, I would die of anxiety. I was already sweating at the moment. “Can I leave?” I said, sounding impatient. “I have to go.” I added.Phoebe would be disappointed if I got back to the shop, it has been barely Six hours since I arrived, it would be a shame. “You look so scared,” he said, moving so close to me. “Wolf less but more like a tyrant, I like that.” He said with a smile. I moved away from him just to hit my back against a wall, now there was no room for escape. “Shit!” I cussed. He smiled wickedly, “I don't bite, “ he said sniffing me like he was a dog. Though it's very common with us werewolves, wolves are known to be wild dogs with frightening amounts of skills. I wondered why he was sniffing me, using my hands I tried pushing him away fro
FinnHer eyes shone brightly, melting my heart. She has beautiful eyes. They felt so familiar and captivating. I couldn't control myself around her, my wolf felt so wild. I wondered why I couldn't feel her wolf. She wasn't a real werewolf without one, I felt there was a lot I needed to know about her.Seeing her run away from me, I let out a laugh. What was she doing? I hated the fact that she could get herself injured just by clenching her fist. “You can run away but you can't hide yourself from me.” I said aloud, sure enough I knew she must have heard me. I could hear her thumping heart beat as she ran all thanks to my wolf. About her injury, I would have to make sure she's okay. “Prince Finn, you called for me.” My personal guard said as he approached me. “I have a task for you, there's someone I want you to investigate.” I ordered. “I have no idea who she is but I want you to go through the CCTV cameras and find the woman who had been sent to my room. I need clear results.“ I c
Chapter 12Everest Waking up to the sound of my alarm I jolted up from my sleep rubbing my eyes warmly so as to start the day. At this point I still felt so sleepy, all thanks to the pervert who had locked me up with him. “You need to freshen up and head to the canteen to get breakfast. You can't afford to be late again.” Adrienne said, heading towards the door. I couldn't believe my eyes, she was fully dressed. “What time did you wake up?” I said stretching my limbs. Adrienne chuckled as she looked at me, “You came back very late last night, I was still awake but too lazy to question you.” After her last words, she left the room.Looking over towards the second bunk, it was empty and neaty made. It seems everyone had been up earlier than me. I jumped off the bed rushing towards the shower room. In less than a minute I was already out. Mr. Roland would chop my head off, I can't be late. Back home I was always up Early, but now it seems my body is taking a break. Could my pregnanc
Phoebe. As I made my way into the mansion, I furrowed my brows in a frown. Everest has been to hell and back all thanks to Selene. She was nothing but the devil himself, I wondered what the young girl had done to deserve so much pain and torture.“Everest, you are dead meat. I would definitely kill you. How dare you stay out for days without my permission” I heard her yelling. “Selene, calm down, you don't have to be so harsh with the young girl.” I said as I made my way into the living room. She looked so shocked seeing me, “Phoebe…I wasn't expecting you. Don't tell me she had caused trouble at work. Is that why she hasn't been here for two days now?” She asked I scoffed, her sudden care sounded so off to me–she sounded like she really cared about Everest’s well being. “You really see her like a pain in your ass. If she is so much of a burden, you should let her go. Let her have her freedom.” I advised. She rolled her eyes at me, “You know how my life has been ever since, so you sh
