While it had grown colder, it was always warm in the capitol. We could still wear flowing dresses if we wanted, but the sun didn’t stay up for as long as usual. I was sitting in my room, reading a book, and just lying around when a servant knocked on my door. I told them to enter, and they told me Silver was looking for me, requesting I go out with her and her ladies in town. I didn’t want to go. I would rather stay in my room, but she insisted, and I knew I couldn’t say no to the queen. So I got dressed for an outing and then left my room. I found the other ladies waiting by the castle’s entrance, smiling and laughing. I noticed, though, that it was just them—hardly any guards.
