People keep disappearing(2)

"I'm sorry Maddie, it's for your safety...."

Barron closed his eyes as he couldn't bear to see his only daughter getting buried alive.

Despite her screams and pleading, she was kept in the coffin  for one hundred years.

Because she kept in the coffin for so long, she had reverted back to a baby and brought back to Thornbury with Byron.

Madeline woke up around noon, she looked a bit pale as yesterday's vision took a turn on her.

She was one hundred and eighteen years old, and she was actually buried alive.

Madeline was so confused and she did not know who to talk to.

She stroked the bracelet in her wrist, she didn't see it in the vision, so her father must have given it to her after he removed her from the coffin.

"Maddie come down for breakfast.."

Madeline took a quick bath and went downstairs, she had no appetite so she ate very little.

Byron sighed he wanted to tell her but he couldn't not now, what she went through those years was unbearable.

"I wish I could tell you everything Maddie but I can't at least not now."

Madeline nodded her head, she herself was also looking for answers.  She did not dare tell her father about her visions for fear of being put in the coffin again.

Byron and Madeline both headed to the workshop after breakfast, they saw a huge crowds are the front of the store.

"When is the workshop opened, I'll pay two hundred silver for that dress."

The woman wearing a beret screamed, she just happened to pass by when we saw the dress.

"I'll give you two-fifty silver for the dress.."

Another woman said, they were all fighting for the dresses that Madeline made yesterday.

"Calm down everyone, let's talk about it inside.."

Byron said as he opened the workshop, the shop was filled to brim with women.

"Mister Byron how much for the dress, I'll pay any amount."

The woman in the beret asked, she did not know that Rutherford had this talented tailor.

"The dresses were not made by me...but my daughter you can ask her for the price."

Byron always let Madeline earn money for herself, he knew there would be a day where he would not be here with her, so he hoped she could protect herself when he was gone.

The woman turned to Madeline direction in awe, the dress maker was this beautiful young lady.

"Miss how much for the dress, I'll pay any amount you wish."

The beret lady as earnestly, if she wanted the dress she would have to be polite with the maker.

"What dress do you wish to buy...."

Madeline asked if the dress suited the lady that she would sell it the normal price.

The beret lady pointed to the orange dress on the mannequin.

It was a fine dress, but the lady was a bit dark for orange.

"Miss this dress doesn't suit you, you're a little dark skinned and the dress would look good in lighter colors."

Madeline spoke honestly when one of the women spoke rudely.

"What do you know about skin color or colors."

Wasn't she only a tailor, wouldn't it be disgrace if she didn't know what she doing.

"I know about it because I am the one who made the dress, and I also know green doesn't fit you."

Madeline said bluntly as she marked the woman's face, she did not attend to rude people.

The woman in green felt embarrassed and left the shop, glaring at Madeline harshly.

"What color do you recommend Miss."

The beret lady asked no one had ever told her that a color didn't look good on her.

"I recommend colors like; red, silver, green, brown etc."

The woman took note of everything and planned to give it to her tailor when she returned to the west kingdom.

"So what dress can I buy here."

The woman was very polite to Madeline, not daring to offend her.

Madeline walked to the back and brought out a stunning red dress, with red rubies and exquisite intricate embroidery designs.

The all the women gasped and gawked at the dress, they shock they could wear something like that to the ball.

"Wow...Miss this gown is so beautiful...you are definitely the most talented woman I've seen in Rutherford."

The beret woman said in awe as she hugged the dress.

No wonder she was a bit dark, she wasn't from Rutherford, Madeline wondered about the other three kingdoms, what were they like.

"How much for this gown Miss..."

The beret lady did not give the other ladies time to snag her dress so she quickly asked for the price.

"Fifty sliver Miss..."

Madeline answered she calculated what she used and it was about forty slivers, so she added ten silver as her pay.

Fifty!! Silver!!!

It was too cheap, for a gown like this.

"Miss I have money, you don't have to sell it too cheap, here I will give you seventy silvers."

The beret lady brought out a poach filled with silver, she counted ten silvers out of it and gave the rest to Madeline.

"Miss you're giving me too much, the gown price is fifty silver no more no less."

Madeline stated what did she do to earn extra twenty silver.

"Miss consider it a gift from me... the lady pushed the poach back in Madeline's hand and even dropped the ten slivers she counted out before.

Madeline finally nodded and package the gown for the beret lady.

"Miss I want a gown too!!"

That hour Madeline ended up selling all the dresses she made yesterday and even the ones she made previously and she had made a whooping amount of three hundred silver.

"Miss Madeline can you find some dresses for us..."

Some girls dressed in tattered clothes walked towards Madeline, the place was so high end they knew they could not afford it.

"I'm sorry but all the dresses have been bought.."

Madeline thought and nodded,  they came a bit too early and a bit too late. She had not started working yet so she did not have any dress to sell.

"Oh sorry for disturbing you then."

The girls turned to walk out, they all looked depressed, the first ball the king hosted and they did not even have any suitable gowns to wear.

"Wait..."

Madeline called out, she remembered the remaining batch of last year's ball.

"I don't have much and they might be a little old fashioned."

The girls nodded as long as it was a gown they did not mind wearing it.

Madeline nodded and brought out five  dresses, three were made by her father while the other two was made by her father .

Like they say age doesn't hide beauty.

Gowns looked stunning on the girls, one could mistake them for princesses.

"Wow miss how much for the gowns."

Madeline knew the level of money to decided to tell it for them for ten silver.

"Ten silver..."

Five silver was the lowest the workshop could sell and it was for the less privileged.

The girls quickly handed fifty silvers and left with their gowns.

"You're the talk of the town now, all the women want to be your friends."

Byron laughed as his chest swelled up with pride, finally people were beginning to see the light in his daughter.

"There are still other seamstresses better than me, father this is your share."

Madeline gave Byron one hundred and fifty silver, there was no way she could spend three hundred and fifty silver all my herself.

"I've told you before what ever you sell it's your money, I've made quite some money today too."

Byron didn't take the money the more money Madeline had the better.

Madeline tried to protest but Byron cut her off.

"Don't protest....spend your money, you haven't even sewn a dress for yourself."

Byron persuaded as he petted madeline's hair.

"Okay but it's not my money, it's our money."

This was her father's workshop everything belong to him even the money.

Byron nodded and pushed Madeline out of the shop, he held a small smile in his face, "go and play around and buy whatever you see."

Madeline nodded she only took one hundred silver, carrying too much money around was dangerous.

The village was pretty busy, ever since the disappearance of people, people had stop coming to Thornbury for trading.

But today it was busy like the previous days, Madeline stopped by a silk shop.

"Good morning Mrs Perkins, have any new silks."

Madeline asked the middle aged woman who went by the name of Mrs Perkins.

"Madeline I thought you wouldn't come, the new silks just arrived ."

Mrs Perkins brought Madeline to where the new silks were.

"I have a special one for you.."

Mrs Perkins fished out a red and black silk, the texture of the silk was smooth and soft.

Madeline felt like the silk had magic it was too enchanting.

"How much is it..."

"Oh it's just fifteen silvers, a silk is still a silk no matter the grade."

Mrs Perkins answered.

Madeline made the fifteen  silvers and was about to leave when Mrs Perkins called out.

"Men have been disappearing lately, both handsome and beautiful women. You and your father best stay indoors. We wouldn't want you guys to be targeted."

Mrs Perkins Warned as she looked at Madeline with a smile, Madeline always felt that this Mrs Perkins was a weird one.
