“Dad, you said you had something urgent to discuss with me?” Declan stated as soon as he opened his father’s study room door.

“Good to see you, son. I’m glad you still call me father.” Paddy remarked with a bright smile that radiated his bright mood. He quickly beckoned his son to sit, and Declan dragged a chair to sit across Paddy.

“You will always be my father,” Declan stated matter of fact. He couldn’t understand why Paddy would find his form of address shocking. He fixed a probing gaze on his father, causing Paddy to clear his throat unnaturally.

“Ahem!!” He took a deep breath and decided to say it, anyway.

“Your mother reached out to you recently.” He made a statement, to which Declan only nodded, wondering where the hell was going with the conversation. “Rafaela wouldn’t be around for too long. I’ll advise you to get her to come and stay with you in the city. You two would spend a lot more time together that way.”
