Ch 47: You're fired

“Give me one good reason why I should allow you to continue working as my assistant, Chloe Grayson.”

Selene didn’t bother to pretend or even attempt to be nice by responding to Chloe’s earlier greeting. She fired sharply at her, catching her unawares.

“I… I…”

Chloe tried to speak, yet, no words came out of her mouth. She wished she had a reasonable explanation for what she did, but obviously, she had nothing to say that could take away Selene’s pain of losing her unborn child.

In her mind, she caused Selene to have a miscarriage, hence, a life was already lost that way.

Meanwhile, Selene didn’t only lose her first fruit to Chloe’s recklessness but also lost her chance of becoming normal again. The young lady robbed her of two things that could bring her immense joy, yet, she replaced it with nothing but pain.

She was the last person Selene wanted to see, and she didn’t bother to fake it.

“I thought as much.

You’re fired!”

Selene declared in a composed, manner, her gaze r
