Chapter 22 - Pt 1
Steven paced down the length of his living room while Dana tended to my injured leg, the anger on his face getting darker by the second as Kota continues to explain what happened in the forest. Rae sat right next to me on the couch, holding my hand tightly in hers as her expression slowly changes from concern to guilt, then trembling fear when Prince Kota finishes.
Abruptly whirling to glare accusingly at Rae, Steven practically roars when he asks. “Where the hell were you when this was happening?”
“I’m so s-so-sorry Uncle Steven, I s-sw-swear I didn’t know-”
“You bloody promised me Rae!” He screams, his hands flying and vein lines appearing across his forehead. “When I signed that stupid petition for a bonfire party you promised to take care of my daughter. Is this how you keep your promises!”

It’s been a month since finding out some truth from Steven, after my freak out I left his place that night because I couldn’t listen anymore while I’d tried not to unravel under the shock and pain. Once again, I’m projected into my memories, this time with me standing in my parent’s study. Confused, I look around the familiar surroundings and breathed in, my knees almost buckling as the scent of roses assault my nose. It’s Halloween and in celebration of the holiday, C&K’s most coveted group, Ladies-in-Waiting, had put together a school dance for students in the school’s ballroom. The holiday though ignored by me had put students in a good mood for weeks before its arrival. Mostly because it means they get to have fun during the break, while most students had gone home for the holiday majority of the student population stayed back. It’s Friday and this is my second time watching the jostling game...and my first time actually buzzing with anticipation.Today’s match is between the male fire elemental’s and male water elemental’s. Which means, both Devon and Prince Kota are going to be leading their teams.If the excitement over the girl’s games creates a hyperactive atmosphere, then you can just imagine how the boy’s game is going to be. Especially when Prince Kota is going to be leading his team for the first time since his arrival. Sitting in the large arena with Eva, Tamil, Lillian, Rae, Camille, and Tiffany, I feel a little uncomfortable. The combination constantly has eyes directed our way, particularly because Rae is sitting and socializing freely with defects.I’m practically sitting in the middle of the group and feel like screaming out in frustration when I-pads are sometimes directed our way.
