Chapter 28

Isadora's POV

I awoke in a sterile room, the harsh scent of antiseptic assaulting my senses. For a moment, confusion clouded my mind. Where was I? Why did everything feel so hazy? Panic began to well up within me, and I tried to sit up, only to be met with searing pain radiating from my side.

"Easy, Isadora, easy," a soothing voice said, and I turned my head to see the pack doctor at my side. "You're in the hospital. You've had surgery."

Surgery? The word echoed in my mind, but I couldn't grasp its meaning. All I could feel was the crushing weight of sadness that enveloped me, a sense of loss that seemed to suffocate my very soul.

"What happened?" I croaked, my voice barely audible.

The doctor's expression turned somber, and he hesitated before speaking. "You were in a car accident, Isadora. It was... it was quite serious. You've been through a lot."
