The room smelt like sex and blood, and I sucked in air through my mouth to hold down the contents of my stomach. Goosebumps dotted my skin as I sat—knees pulled up and arms wrapped tightly around them—in a corner of the room, far away from the places Logan or Nancy had touched. Since my dress was ruined, I only had Logan’s jacket to cover my nakedness.

My wolf had detached from me after Logan marked and left with Nancy in his arms. For the first time, I missed her nagging, missed her goofy smiles. No matter how much I tried to mind-link with her, she kept shutting me out. Was she hurt? Yeah, probably.

But I’d warned her not to grow too attached to him. I refuse to beat myself up about her. She’d bounce back in the long run and would be stronger. The silence in the room roared loud, matching the thumps of my heart. Was I numb…in shock? I didn’t know.

A yawn escaped me just as the door was pushed open. “Aimee?”
