Lisa picked up at the fifth and I wouldn’t even be surprised if she was staring at her phone’s screen and watching it ring.

When she finally picked up, she didn't say anything except for her soft breathing that I could hear from the other side of the phone.

“Hey.”

“What do you want?” her voice sounded just as hostile as I was expecting and it made me chuckle. She was so predictable it was endearing.

“You weren't this hostile two nights ago,” I pointed out and I could imagine her snarling at her phone.

“Are you going to say why you called or do you want me to hang up?”

“Where are you?”

“Why do you care?”

“I don't care, Red, you should know that by now.”

She dragged a very long and loud hiss, “then I see no point then, I’m hanging up...”

“I need to tell you something about our assignment.”

There was silence for a while and I could picture her biting down on her plump lower lip, trying to weigh her options. I knew she didn't want to see me, that she has been trying her possible bes
