Mariah was going to get caught – that was the one thing I kept telling myself after the detectives had mentioned getting a search warrant for Solene’s house.

“The warrant is going to be difficult to get,” Detective Johnson informed us. “We don’t have something concrete to prove that they’re hiding something very huge. As the officers who had been there said, they might just be an ordinary mother with her college daughter, who must have been intimidated by all of the people wandering around in the neighborhood and probably told the taxi driver to take her into the garage for extra safety.”

“They also mentioned that there was another car in the garage,” the second detective mentioned, causing my heart to skip a beat. Of course they had seen the Mini Cooper.

If they decided to check the security cameras’ new footages from that day, they would notice the car pulling out of the garage, and they could possibly trace it back to me.
