Chapter 71

Sophia's POV.

I woke up to a loud bell ringing by my window. It rang so loud that I fell off my bed and rose with a headache.

Luckily, pups were known to have terrible hearing in their first few days out of their mother.

The loud gong did not wake them up. I looked over at their crib to find them sleeping peacefully.

Meanwhile, my head was threatening to split open. I held the side of my ears, trying to block out the noise as I stood there.

When it had stopped for a few seconds, I rushed to the window to have a look.

Some men were passing by in a straight line.

They were in lines of two and hard black painted on their faces while they were dressed in fur and animal skin.

They held twigs in their mouths as they hummed an unfamiliar hymn and walked around.

It was a scary festival to witness.

I shut my blinds and searched for my shoes.

I needed to see what was happening.
