CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

I managed to rise, gripping the jagging rocks with my fingers and furiously pulling myself up onto dry land. The icy waters ebbed and slammed against my back cruelly, almost pushing me into a state of hyperthermia. Muscle spasms wreaked havoc on my body, and I limped unconsciously into a big cave. As I crept farther into the tunnel, I saw that the light in the area was fading. I had two options: stay and die of exposure or enter and risk my life. I'm not one to give up quickly, so I continued deeper into the rocky hole.

"What an awful stench!" 

Nothing but my gasps and footsteps could be heard as I shuffled into the cave, both palms "magnetized" onto the cavern's even walls. It was excruciating to intrude into a strange land while blind. Suddenly, a squadron of winged creatures - most likely bats - rushed across the cave's peak, causing shrieking shrieks to reverberate throughout the cavern.
