(Morrigan’s P.O.V)
After what felt like a million hours of searching, Vladimir shouts with excitement capturing my attention from the scroll I was looking at.
“Mo! I found it! I think I finally found it!” He exclaims, sliding over to me.
Putting the scroll in front of me I read the prophecy out loud:
When the Winter Solstice Princess has completed 20 cycles around the sun, a great threat will bear down upon the realm. This Solstice Princess will have powers to stop the threat, being of three equal species: a wolf, an elf, and a spell caster. The Solstice Princess will come into her powers after meeting her beloved and marking them as her own. The tipping of the scales will be in favor of the Solstice Princess, with ice in her heart for those who would harm her loved ones, she will cover the corpses of her enemies in
(Rian’s P.O.V) I could tell this prophecy was weighing heavily on Morrigan’s mind and I knew she needed reassurance about all of this. As confident as she can be, I know there is a portion of her that doubts her abilities. I’m hopeful that Lysander and King Alstin will be able to help her with both her powers and her confidence in them. I don’t like seeing my mate doubting herself so badly. We get back to the house where Cormac says his goodbyes and goodnights to both Morrigan and me. We walk into the house and up to our bedroom, it had been a long day so all we wanted to do was collapse into bed and sleep. Killian, please make sure that we have one of the best female warriors prepared to train with Morrigan the day after tomorrow. I want to test her fighting in human form before we get started training her in wolf-form. Yes, Alpha. I will make sure that Kalie is prepared.
(Morrigan’s P.O.V) I honestly needed to get out of that office and be on my own, I needed time to think and process everything that’s happened over the last few days. “I’m going for a run; I need some air,” I tell the guys, before walking out the door, not bothering to wait for a response. I walk down the stairs and through the front door of the packhouse, straight to the edge of the forest. I strip behind a tree, tying my clothes to my ankle, and letting Winter take control. She darts out into the forest, nimbly jumping over fallen logs and avoiding low-hanging branches before she realizes we are being followed. Mo, someone is following us. We’re going to have to fight. But I don’t know how to fight in wolf form. It’s a natural instinct, just follow that and
(Rian’s P.O.V) After Morrigan mind linked me about an hour after she left for her run, I knew something was wrong and that she didn’t want to tell me. I didn’t think that it would be that she was attacked by a rogue, considering we typically don’t have a problem with them since we were the unofficial royal pack. I couldn’t help but be angry at her for not mind linking me right away but I couldn’t help but be impressed with her magic and the fact that she could mind link the rogue in human form as well as in wolf form. I was carrying her back to our house in silence, too pissed off to speak without saying something I would regret. Stark wasn’t helping my anger either, his anger and mine were swirling together and it was clouding my mind. I knew Morrigan could feel it because I felt her trying to shrink back even though she was in my arms. Try counting to 10, it’ll make you feel better.
(Morrigan’s P.O.V) After Rian’s sponge bath, he helped me get into pajamas and settled back into bed before he finished cleaning up the stuff from my sponge bath. I was exhausted, from the fight and from using so much magic, I just wanted to go to bed. Rian came back and crawled into bed with me after changing into gray sweats that hung dangerously low on his hips, and if I wasn’t injured, I would ride him like a rodeo queen. “I know what you are thinking mo grá, silence those thoughts before you get bent over the bed and spanked. Just because your shoulder is injured, doesn’t mean I can’t spank that ass red.” He growled; his nostrils flared as he smelled my arousal. “Sorry love can’t help it when you wear those gray sweatpants. They’re a fucking aphrodisiac to me.” I giggle. Rian pulls me to him, my ass against his pel
(King Alstin’s P.O.V) The moment I felt an outsider cross the border; I knew something was different yet familiar at the same time. I couldn’t place it and it made me anxious, and I don’t like to be anxious. I took over the Kingdom of Eglarest from my father about 75 years ago, when I was 50 years old. My father wanted to be able to spend time with his sister, Amelie, when she ended up mated to the shifter king, Conri, when I was in my 40s. Amelie and my father were actually half-siblings, their father having had an affair with a spellcaster years after my father was born. When the spellcaster found out she was pregnant, she had initially wanted to get rid of the fetus, however; my grandfather told her that if she went through with the pregnancy he would give her enough gold, jewels, and money to set her up for life. She gladly accepted his offer and once she gave birth, she washed her hands of Amelie. My gra
(Morrigan’s P.O.V) I was stunned into silence, I couldn’t think, breathe, or mentally compute what was going on right now. Well, we knew something was gonna happen today. Yeah, I know but this wasn’t what I was expecting. How can I be this lost daughter of some old dead couple? Winter growls at that statement. Those are our parents you are talking about and our Queen and King. Be respectful. Goddess Winter, I’m sorry. No need to get upset. Winter huffs, pissed that I stated it in such bold terms, but it’s not my fault that it’s true. I just want to know who dropped me off at the palace and why they didn’t keep me and raise me in the shifter kingdom. At least the
(Rian’s P.O.V) I couldn’t believe that Morrigan is the daughter of King Conri and Queen Amelie. I mean, I knew there was something about her aura that puzzled me. Her aura was stronger than mine, though she didn’t know that she could command me to do something with her Alpha tone and I would follow it. That’s something that no other Alpha can do to me as Supreme Alpha. I will have to talk with my parents about what this means for our kingdom, because this could be the start of bringing back the monarchy. Though first, we needed to put an end to the dark Fae and spellcaster problem that Eferhile is having. Alstin and Albrun walked us to the rooms we would be staying in while we wait for Prince Leland to get to the palace. I wasn’t expecting us to have to stay the night, so none of us had an overnight bag, though Alstin assured me that there were clothes for us in the rooms.
(Morrigan’s P.O.V) I was going to be meeting the rest of my elf family, and I wasn’t sure how I really felt about it. It was a lot to take in and I wish that Rian and I could have just stayed in our room until Prince Leland arrived, but that would have been rude. It’s odd to be royalty not just from one side of the family but from both sides. I really hope that Leland has the answers we need and want. We leave our room, Cormac following behind us, and make our way to the formal dining room since apparently there are so many members of my family joining us. “You nervous mo grá?” Rian asks. “Yeah, a bit. It’s just a lot and I really wish that we could have just locked ourselves in the room for the night.” I whisper. “I know baby, but we are here as guests, and it would have been rude to deny Alstin’s invitation to dinner.” I nod my head in acknowledgment as we descended the stairs, meeting a servant at the bottom who guided us to the formal dining room.
