Prologue

Third Person's POV

"Your majesty, Lady Elena is dead." Palace healer Anisto reveals after Elena's fall, the first time Elijah sees it.

Regret washed over Elijah's face as he looked at Elena's lifeless body. The woman he never wanted to marry and never tried to talk to and win over.

He feels so much remorse now. At that time he was not interested in meeting Elena. All he knows is that it has a beauty that stands out from everyone else. Although he is not interested no matter how beautiful a creature looks. He has never been liked by anyone. External appearance is not important to him, because Valeria's welfare is always his priority.

His whole plan was to marry Natalia, to further extend the peace of Wysteria. Even high officials want that too. To marry Natalia. Only the war general did not agree to marry Natalia. It is necessary, whoever is destined is the one who should be married. Not another creature.

But now, the first time his eyes landed on the girl, his world seemed to stop for the first time. His heart was pounding, beating more than he had ever felt before.

But before he knew that the girl in front of him, was the girl he was supposed to marry, it was too late. He lost his life, in an instant. He didn't even do anything to stop it.

King Elijah's jaw dropped and he closed his eyes tightly. Elijah stood up and picked up Elena's lifeless body. He felt that his heart was being beaten with so much pain.

King Elijah walked and he did not realize that his tears were falling. All the sentinels and maidservants bowed their heads in sorrow. Everything was quiet and Elijah entered a room, and he laid Elena on a bed made of a soft fabric and colored black and gold.

It was not a room, but a room where Elijah would be laid to rest if he were to be taken alive. He had never used it, and it was the first time he had been in there.

A room in black and gold. A wide bed and Elena was lying there. It was just like sleeping in his sight. It cannot be said that it no longer has life.

"I-I'm sorry..." He whispered into the air and knelt by Elena's side. "This is all my fault. If only I could take it all back." Elijah sobbed full of remorse and regret. For the first time, Elijah felt a pang of remorse. The kind of regret that eats away at his will.

Elijah just knelt there, tears falling and not knowing when he would be able to get out of the remorse and sadness he felt. Elijah didn't notice how long he had been in there. He just looked at Elena's lifeless body and wished it was just a dream. Hopefully, he'll wake up soon because it was just a dream and the first thing he'll do is not go through with the original plan.

Elijah turned around when the door suddenly opened and the girl he knew spat out. Natalia, the queen of Mythion.

"I heard she's finally dead. You're free now." Natalia initially promised but Elijah ignored her. His full attention was on the woman now lying in front of him. "Why do you look so sullen all of a sudden?"

"Not today, Natalia. Please, give me peace." Elijah's request. He didn't want to insult the queen but he was losing patience now. The situation only made him look worse and worse.

"Why? Isn't this what you want? You want her to be gone, I just—"

Everything Natalia said was swallowed again when she suddenly grabbed the queen's neck and Elijah threw her against the wall. The queen moaned loudly because of that.

"Shut your mouth, Natalia. If you are smart enough to see, I am not a bit happy, not at all." Elijah threatens Natalia. If Natalia had been a girl, she might have punched him.

Natalia was not afraid, instead of being silent, she spoke again.

"What's wrong? You're the one who asked to kill her, now it was done successfully. Are you not satisfied with how she was killed?" the queen's throat suddenly lost her breath and the horror on her face showed that she could die at the hands of Elijah.

"Yes. I killed her, I killed the one I love!" Elijah screamed that almost breaking Natalia's ears. "Our agreement is canceled. I will never marry you, Natalia." And he let go of Natalia who now turned purple from lack of air.

Natalia seemed to be in a frenzy when Elijah released her. Her jaw dropped in tears because of what Elijah had done to her.

"Don't heap your anger on me. You're the one who hired a sorcerer to kill her. Don't pretend that you're regretting all of this. This is what you want, Elijah. You wanted this. Whoever is at fault here, it's not me. You killed Elena for your greed—"

"Get out!" Elijah's voice thundered and suddenly the door opened even though no one opened it Natalia suddenly appeared in the air and was thrown out of that room.

Elijah leaned against the wall and slowly slid down. Feeling remorse, regret, and self-loathing. He's been too cruel for thousands of years. He doesn't care who he runs into, as long as all his wishes come true.

Now his desire to get off his path has been fulfilled, but now he seems to be drowning in regret. He was very angry with himself and he could never forgive the sins he had committed against Elena. He doesn't deserve to be happy because of what he did.

He stayed like that for a long time. He didn't feel hungry until Stefano entered, his right hand now worried about Elijah.

"Your Majesty, Lady Elena must be buried," Stefano told Elijah that now he was just sitting on the floor, crying and unable to talk.

Elijah didn't answer. He just stared at Elena's lifeless body. When Stefano didn't get an answer, he sent the sentinels closer to lift Elena, but Elijah stood up quickly and stopped the sentinels from doing what they were doing.

"Don't touch her!" Elijah's voice boomed and the sentinels felt fear.

"Your majesty, we have to take him away—" Stefano was about to say was cut short when someone suddenly entered with a burning anger.

"You killed my daughter!" Shouted Elena's mother who was now crying and lamenting. "My daughter died, you didn't let me see her. You didn't want to marry her, so you paid to kill my daughter." Elena's mother said angrily.

"Lady Felicidad, calm down—" Felicidad suddenly slapped Stefano.

"I don't want to hear your explanations. It's enough for me to know that you killed my child! You heartless person! My child is the only family left!" Felicidad screamed and looked angrily at Elijah. "I hope the day comes when you pay for all this. I swear you won't be happy!" And suddenly Felicidad pulled out a black bottle and drank the contents. He immediately dropped the bottle and it was too late for them to know that it was a deadly poison for an immortal.

Felicidad was quickly attended to when she suddenly collapsed and gasped. His mouth foamed until he stopped moving.

Everyone was silent. Even Elijah was surprised. Anisto tried to restore Felicidad's life but failed. Felicidad committed suicide because she could not bear the death of her son, especially when she found out who ordered Elena to be killed. Elijah can't think of anything but Natalia who told Felicidad who killed Elena. No one else knows that, but Natalia and Stefano.

"Call the sorcerer," Elijah ordered and did not let them take Elena's body. He stood guard at the edge of the bed.

Stefano understood what he meant so Stefano quickly went out to send the message through a phoenix that would be received in an instant by whoever the letter was sent to.

What Elijah wants is to talk to the magician, if there is still a possibility to restore Elena's life. He prays that there is a way for that.

He was left inside the room. The sentinels brought Felicidad's remains to be buried before Elena's.

Thirty minutes later, the magician who was with Stefano arrived. Elijah immediately looked at it. He stared at the old magician Sicario. He was the very first magician and one of those who did not give in to evil. So he can trust her.

"I am glad to see you again, dear king." Sicario saluted and bowed.

Elijah just nodded at this and continued to watch him. His white hair is long due to old age and his skin is wrinkled. Such creatures are rarely seen in Wysteria, as none of the immortal's age, except for mages who cross the mortal world.

"She is no longer alive," Sicario said calmly and seemed to immediately recognize who the woman was now lying on the bed.

"I'm not going to fidget anymore, Sicario. Is there any way to bring Elena back to life?" Elijah asked this seriously.

Shock filled Sicario's eyes because of what he heard from the king. It did not expect Elijah to say this, because the ultimate death of the appointed was Elijah. He ordered to end Elena's life.

"I am sorry, dear king, but it is no longer within my power to bring the dead back to life." Sicario apologizes for this. The old man wondered more and more why the king was acting like this. But he didn't try to ask.

Elijah sighed before speaking. "Really nothing? Anything? I regret all the decisions I've made. If there's a way, anything, I want to hold on to it." Elijah seems to be breaking down and begging for hope.

"There is a way, your majesty." Sicario's behavior immediately caught Elijah's attention. "You must wait for the rebirth of the appointed," Sicario said making Elijah frown even more.

"What do you mean?" Elijah, who now completely approaches Sicario.

"Destiny will be reborn, a hundred years from now." The old man's demeanor was as if he was reading a prophecy. He waved his hand in the air and a circular jade necklace with golden dragon designs appeared there and it lit up. "This will be the sign of destiny. She will be born with a new personality and identity. She will achieve this necklace, on her twentieth birthday. Only destiny will be able to illuminate this necklace when she is wearing it." Sicario made a long promise and Elijah stamped the necklace on his forehead and it disappeared from his sight.

"Are you saying she will appear, a hundred years from now?" Elijah clarified to Sicario.

"She will not appear, Your Highness. You will find her, in a scene you least expect." Sicario replied and it just disappeared in front of him. He got the answer he needed. A hundred years from now, Elena will be reborn with a different personality and identity. The necklace that has been imprinted on his mind will be the clue.

He turned to Elena's lifeless body. "It's not goodbye yet, sweetheart. It's seeing you again, a hundred years from now."
