Caraline was taken aback when she read that last sentence. Her eyes rounded as her breath suddenly caught. The woman then let out a long breath along with a shake of her head.

Caraline was silent for some time, scanning her surroundings. Her heart was suddenly beating rapidly. All the images of Deric now filled her head. She reread the chart from top to bottom to make sure that what she had read earlier was not wrong. However, she still got the same information.

"So... the one who helped me in the accident was Deric," Caraline muttered while holding her own heart. "And the person who hit Deric was Carla, not me."

Caraline clenched her fists tightly. She tried to hold back the tears that were trying to break through her stubbornness. "Deric."

Caraline looked up, leaning her back against the back of the chair. She suddenly thought of Carla's condition after school graduation. Her sister looked thin and locked herself in her room more often than not. Before her death, Carla had been sick
