The maids rushed to the veranda.

"Don't come any closer!" snapped Caraline with her palms pointed back.

"Turn around!" ordered Caraline without looking at the maids. She tried to get up even though her butt was still sore.

The maids complied but looked confused.

"Line up neatly!" Caraline ordered then.

Grace, who was among the group of maids, quickly organized the line.

"Now, close this door and get away from me!"

Grace immediately ordered the maids to leave with a sweep of her hand, while she closed the door first, then followed after her subordinates who had begun to move away.

Caraline grunted in annoyance, stomping the floor a few times. The woman returned to walking with her arms folded across her chest. She turned to the edge of the lake where Deric was. She smiled again until her cheeks turned red.

Caraline glanced at Deric, then pretended to look the other way. This went on a few times until she finally got annoyed that he hadn't looked away at all.

"Damn it," Caraline muttere
