Chapter 5: Playing Cupid

"Kane. My car's brake is broken. I'll send it to the car shop later. Can we get a ride with yours?" I asked loudly before Kane went out.

Layla looked at me in disbelief.

"For the first time, you broke

something. Tell me, how did it feel?"

I looked at Layla strangely. Did I really not break any things before? Am I that careful of my things? Well, it was good news, right?

Kane turned around and said sternly to me.

"Ride with Layla. She has two cars." 

Idiot! This guy! Did he

"Layla, do you want to use your car?" I glanced at Layla.

Layla frowned.

Kane frowned. He seemed to be in deep thought. After a while he said.

"Okay." And he went outside.

Really that guy, did he not know the 'taking

thing. I think he needed a talk from me. I was about to go after him when a yawn sounded loudly behind my back.

A brown-haired girl, with a luscious body, wearing only a sports bra, exposing a seductive cleavage, and wearing the super short walked towards us.

"Morning," Gabriella said while rubbing her eyes.

"Morning." I and Layla both replied.

Gabriella walked towards the fridge and grabbed a carton of milk. It was Kane's milk.

"That's Kane's." I warned her.

"Who cares." And she drank from it.

I just shrugged. Good thing that guy was already outside, if not, a war would break out.

Gabriella was really a mischievous girl. With her seductive brown eyes and body, she dated all the hot guys in school. Not only that, she had a habit of two-timing, oh sometimes three. But those guys deserved it. They were also timers.

However, after living with her for almost two years I somehow understood her. Those mischievous deeds were actually for capturing a certain man.

"Hey, don't drink from other people's drinks." A guy with an eighty percent same appearance as Layla came down.

He was Layla's twin brother, Levi.

Levi looked more athletic and sturdier than Kane. But I guess Kane was taller. Levi was one of the hottest guys in school. Aside from having a good reputation, and background, he was very polite and gentle towards girls. He had girlfriends before, and they were all decent. And towards us, three girls, he treated us very gently as a responsible brother would.

Gabriella choked on her drink and coughed. She put down the milk and closed the ref with very subtle movements. She looked like a bunny who was about to be scolded. And true to that, our big brother Levi scolded her.

"If you want to have a drink every day you should buy it earlier in the supermarket or make an order through the maids. And what are you wearing? You might catch a cold!" Levi walked away and returned quickly while holding a jacket.

He put it to Gabriella and patted her head.

"I heard from Vinson you broke up with him. That guy is a good guy. I see that he is sincere with you. Until now he was drinking his sorrows after you two broke up. Why not talk things through?" He said gently to Gabriella. He did not notice how Gabriella's eyes become soft, full of love and admiration to rage.

I sighed. Another one-sided love and a dense person. I massaged my temples. Really I'm having a headache.

Why Gabriella did not confess to Levi directly instead of dropping hints everywhere? For turtle's sake, that guy was Layla's twin. They are both lazy to figure out both of your actions! Ugh!! Why I'm the only one noticing this?! I hope someone comes and shares my burden with.

"Oh. I forgot to tell you yesterday. Father called -" I felt Layla stiffen for a second then continued to drink the last drop of milk, pretending to ignore Levi.

"He said the last person from golden heir will come and live with us. I haven't met him. But father said he is a good man and a genius at that." Levi smiled encouragingly at us.

"What's his name again?" The ever forgetting Gabriella asked.

"Eduardo, Eduardo Calvano."

Levi said with a smile.

At that time, I did not know that the appearance of this man would change my whole plan.

I quickly jumped out of the car the moment it was parked in the school parking lot.

"Gotta go first! I have to return something to the library. See you in the room!" I ran towards the building, then hide in the corner and peeked at them.

I waited and waited but no one left the car.

What could possibly happen when two people were inside the car are left alone, and the guy had a deep love for the girl? Oh! I have read many novels about that! The car was not moving, isn't it? Oh, Layla! Don't lose your virginity in the car!

"What are you doing?" A cold voice sounded behind me.

I turned around and met ebony eyes. Again I was mesmerized by how beautiful his eyes were.

"You are really weird. " Kane said disgustingly.

Oh shit. I stared at him openly.

"You are weirder." I can't help but retort back. I said it out only for the sake of covering my embarrassing moment earlier. However, Mr. Kane Cruz took it seriously.

"What did you say?" His thick brows furrowed.

"I. Said. You. Are. More. Weird." His eyes now were narrowed dangerously and his breathing was heavy. Oh. His mad expression was so cute. I wanted to tease him more.

"Think of it. Why don't you have friends or people around you aside from us, the golden heirs? I bet if our parents did not force us to live with you no one will be willing to talk to you. You need to work with that temperament of yours. Also, your EQ is so low! I'm giving you hints earlier and you did not manage to get it!"

Finally! I said it! I was wondering when I should tell him that.

His eyes were aligned now. And his sharp and slender jaw was clenched. That was really a scary expression. But I'm not scared. I kinda...like it. I'm not sadistic, no way. It was just Kane was blessed with a handsome face but he only wore one expression. Fierce.

Well, I'm also facing a fierce expression, but he is more like furious. At least the spelling change.

And the furious Kane was kinda...hot.

Ehem, fly away perverted thoughts. This guy is for Layla!

"So that's what you think huh? Don't worry, I'm not fond to any of you." He said biting his every word.

"Really? Not even Layla? I wonder what Layla would think about that. You know what kind of person she is exactly. Even though she neglected some of us in the golden heirs, she unknowingly hold us dear in her heart. Do you want to break her more, Kane?" I said tauntingly. Let's test the water first. Before revealing my purpose.

Kane's expression of fury turned into a shock. Then into deep thought. His thick brows almost collided.

Hmmm...Kane's face could actually mirror his thoughts.

"What are you really implying?" I was awakened from daze by his cold voice.

"What I want to say is, if you really like Layla then win her heart. Openly. Not dropping any hints. That girl is smart but also the dumbest person I know aside from you."

"I-I don't know what are you talking about. I didn't l-like Layla." Kane said while his eyes were wandering from anywhere aside from my face. Oh. Clearly, he was lying.

"Common Kane. I grew up with you and Layla and the gang. I bet at Layla's welcome party you already had a crush on her." I said rolling my eyes.
