Chapter 10

"Inhumanity always existed, the greed and envy of humans has kept that beast in them alive" Elle said with tears welling up in her eyes as she closed the book.

The first time she opened the book, she didn't except something like that to be the reason the world was separated, she rubbed her hands over her face and sighed frustratedly, history is about to repeat itself and this time it might be her fault.

She glanced at the book for a while before she turned to the other side of the room, in as much as it gave her a much needed insight about the other realm, she wasn't able to discover the connection of her classmates' dissappereance to all of that.

Elle was still pondering over her classmates dissappereance when she heard the front door open and she heard her dad's voice as he came in, she stood up from her bed immediately to go meet him. She decided to apologise when she saw her mum crying "just for mum" she said to herself as she walked out of her room.

She made to rush to her father and apologise but halted when she heard her parents discussing "The genetics changes have been carried out, they need about 2-3 days to get used to it and they'll be returned to their parents"Anthony said to his wife, who just smiled and nodded at him

"That's good. You made sure that everything was carried out according to what I drafted in the file right?" Anna asked and he just nodded and hugged her.

"Genetics changes?" Elle repeated quietly "what genetics changes are they talking about? How come they are working together, Dad's not the one to pay attention to scientific stuffs" Elle said to herself  but she pushed it to the back of her mind and walked over to her Dad

"Welcome Dad" she greeted in a very soft voice,  Anthony glanced at her for a brief moment and looked away "thank you" he replied in a dead tone

"I'm sorry Dad" she quickly apologized "I was being a brat and I'm sorry about that" 

Anthony looked at his daughter for a while before he smiled and pulled her in for a hug, "that's okay sweetheart" he said as hugged her tightly

"Thanks Dad" Elle replied with a huge smile on her face "I'll be heading over to my room again, I wasn't able to sleep properly cause I was thinking of what happened this morning" Elle lied through her teeth, she just needed an excuse to go to her mom's office.

"Alright sweetie, go rest" Anthony said as he freed her from his grip, Elle just smiled and nodded with a smile on her face before she dashed upstairs, but instead of going to her room she rushed into her mum's office.

She locked the door and scanned the cabinets her mum keeps her files, she made a mental note on how it was arranged so she could arrange it back like that when she finds what she's looking for.

She quickly started looking for the files in the different cabinets, she looked for it everywhere but she couldn't find it "where on Earth is the file!?" She asked as she looked around the office while biting her fingers.

"Wait! It seems like a top secret stuff so she wouldn't place it with other files" she said to herself and quickly arranged the files in the cabinet the way they were. When she was done, she walked over to her mom's table and trailed her hands through the drawers, she remembers seeing her mum open one of her drawers with a code.

When she got to the 3rd drawer she stopped and opened it, she saw a safe inside the drawer and she smiled before she inserted the code "0429" and the safe opened. The file was right there staring at her when she opened the safe, "GENETICS CHANGE" was written boldly on the file, she swiftly took it and left her mum's office.

She got to her room and made sure the door is properly locked before she opened the file, a lot of theories and writings were made about genetics change. She kept going through the documents, she saw her mum's final writing on genetics change but the moment she opened the next page, her eyes quickly widened and her mouth dropped open.

FEW DAYS AGO

It's been four days since the man visited the kidnapped children and within those days 5 Children out of the 30 kidnapped children fell sick. 

They all were just sitting there quietly in darkness in their different corners, they were all tired of crying anyway, they've accepted their fate and bore everything quietly. The sick ones gave up the thought of receiving any medical care.

"Well... Look who's back" A voice called as the place lit up a lil bit and the children immediately sat up, fear clouded their eyes as they looked at the man "now now don't be scared" he said with a creepy smile on his face as looked at the children

"My my, I see some of you have fallen sick. No need to worry your choice today will decide if you will live or not" he said as he signalled one of the men to get him a chair.

"So about our last discussion.." he started as he sat down "what have you all decided?? Work for me or not?" He asked, this time the smile was completely wiped off his face.

The children looked down for awhile, they already know that whatever work he has for them will be something dangerous but, "I'd rather live and be seen as a Vilian than die like Coward." They muttered under their breath. That has been their mantra since they decided their answer.

"Okay..those that are willing to work for me, move to the right and those that aren't move over to the left" the man said and he watched all the children scoot over to the right. He immediately smiled "Good choice" he said as he stood up to leave

"Bring them out" he whispered to one of the men standing by the door before he left.

The children were brought out to an open field after their decision to work for the man, and some of them wanted to crawl back to the darkness they came out from because of the hotness of the sun on their skin.

"Now that you all are here, I'm going to tell you what will be happening to you guys now. Remember, you can't back out now" The man said as he watched the children glance at each other for a while, before he spoke up again.

"Today, I'm going to be messing with your DNA and genetics a little bit. I can't guarantee that it won't hurt but don't worry, it'll certainly stop hurting" he said  and one the children raised up their hand "yes?"

"What do you mean by messing with our DNA and genetics?" The boy asked the question and the other children turned towards him with curious gazes.

"Well, let's just say that after this you won't be leaving here as humans" he said and the children's eyes widened in fear.  "Tie them up" he ordered the men standing there.

The children were quickly tied up. And as soon as they were tied up, series of syringes were brought out; each containing a greenish liquid. 30 men stepped forward and each took a syringe

"This injection holds the DNA and blood of strong vampires and this stuff right here" he raised one syringe and pumped out a little liquid from it "this is the thing that will mess up your whole life"

"I know I know, you have many questions. Isn't vampire blood basically human blood? No! You see, unlike popular beliefs we do produce our own blood, it's not red like yours cause we lack some pigments but that's what makes it strong." the man explained as he looked at the children with a crazy look in his eyes and a creepy smile on his face.

"And the second question on your mind is.. how will this work?" He asked as he stared at the children that nodded their heads quietly "I guess we'll just have to find out" he said and signalled the men to inject the children.

The children were immediately injected on their forearms simultaneously and when he was sure that the entire liquid entered their body, he smiled and looked at his watch "5 minutes from now, your body is going to heat up. Your head will feel like it's about to explode, you'll feel your veins shrinking and you'll literally feel your insides twisting. it's going to feel like the world is going against you and then you'll slowly fall into a deep slumber, only to wake up as a new person" he said to the children who were beginning to sweat profusely.

"Take them in and lock the door firmly, they'll soon turn into wild animals" he said to one of the men "bye" he said to the children as they were dragged back in.

The children were hurriedly taken inside and the door locked firmly, not soon after cries and shouts of pain were heard from the room; he smirked at the door and turned on his heels, leaving the arena immediately.
