Evelyn's pov

The words escaped my mouth before I could even think of holding them back and by the time they were already out I had to face the consequences of them it wasn't as if he was going to strangle me for saying such a thing but I had never expected it, the shock passed through both of our faces as we stared at each other for the longest time in silence and then he broke it with an awkward cough.

“You have to be mistaken…” he said in a tone that I couldn't recognize in his voice at all.
