I wake up in the bed of my Brooklyn apartment wrapped in Jonny’s arms, and if we weren’t both completely naked I’d almost be inclined to believe that the last few months of my life were just some really bad dream. Amory’s period is a day late and the funny shit is she doesn’t even notice, and if she does she’s keeping it to herself. However, she does emphasize to me how tired she feels, so on Friday night when she wants to go down to the club I’m surprised. It’s early morning at the start of August and it’s already hot and humid outside. Bo, Max, and Rich all meet up at my mother’s house to drive over with me to this building we’ll be guarding as part of the new job we’re all taking. I wake up the next morning puking my guts up, just like every other day I wake up before ten, but I have a business matter to attend to today so I don’t really have a choice. I pick myself up from the bathroom floor, then shower and brush my teeth quickly. Today is supposed to be even hotter than yesterday, and I kind of regret having worn the white dress.
