59. Fucking in glory holes

David’s POV.

Beads of sweat dot my face as I step out of the car. Even though I just got out of an air conditioning, it seems as if I went for a run.

But I know the reason I’m worked like this. The black sedan I saw out there was giving the scare.

I march into the quiet house, looking around for Andrei to share this new development with him but I don’t see him around.

Where could he be? I think to myself, searching around. I even go to his room which is on the down floor but Andrei isn’t in.

Could it be that...he isn’t back with Vera? Or did something else happen?

I lose the button of my collar, writhing my head in the process as worry clogs my throat.

I hope it’s not what I’m thinking. I hope there’s no other set of men after Vera.

The intensity of this whole thing bears down on me. It’s only now that I understand why Helen did all she could to get away from the mafia and also to keep Vera safe.

Those men don’t relent. They keep pushing for whatever they desire until they get it.
