66: The Idle Town

TAYA’s POV :

“So?” I asked cautiously. “What’s the verdict?”

Judah and I were seated on the floor, right in front of the coffee table. I was staring at his face, studying his reaction, and he was reading the college letter he just opened. All around us were ripped envelopes and scrunched up college letters. He had been going through almost all of the UC letters and Cal State letters, and so far, they were all rejections.

“Another one bites the dust,” he sighed and scrunched the piece of paper in his hand into a ball before tossing it carelessly to the ground.

“We’ll get something,” I said as I put a hand on his knee.

“At this rate, I don’t even think community colleges will take me,” he shook his head and raked his hair in frustration. Judah had just read over ten letters of rejection. And even though some of them were expected, getting rejected by something was always hard.
