Chapter 16

By the time Josephine woke up, it was already evening. She stretched her body and let out a groan before getting up from the bed. When her feet touched the ground, it went to hit something and she looked down to see what it was. Her eyes fell on the pizza carton she had devoured in the afternoon after she had sneaked out of her room to get it while Lucas was in his room. A small smile came to play on her lips when she remembered what had happened earlier but the smile soon faded.

Josephine walked over to the window side and looked out of it to see how beautifully lit the outside world was. A satisfying smile appeared on her lips and she stepped away from the window before making her way towards the door.

She opened it slowly and stuck her head out, looking from left to right to make sure Lucas was nowhere in sight.
